Ye Are of God
“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4: 3-4)
As this world slips further and further into darkness we must remember that we are the light of the world. God is watching over His people. He will not abandon us. He wants us to be watching and to be ready for all that He has planned for us in these end days. Our Israel nations are sinking further and further into sin and have forgotten their God. We, who are children of God, must live holy lives. We must be a beacon to all those who are being destroyed by this world system which “knows not God”.
We have a responsibility to obey God’s laws. Jesus said in Matt. 5: 17-20 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Til heaven and earth pass one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” We must follow Jesus’ instructions. We should be looking to Him for advice on how to live our lives in this dark world. Our lives should be lived in accordance with God’s laws. If we love and honour our God it is our duty to strive to obey his commandments. This is evidence of our faith.
Another of our responsibilities is to be in constant prayer. When we pray we renew our hearts and our faith becomes stronger. We must try to be as David in Psa.55: 16-17 “As for me I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” There is such power in prayer that we must never cease from giving our cares and worries and of course our praise to our Lord and Saviour.
Of course we must also trust in our Lord. Our daily lives are becoming more and more difficult in this corrupt world. As children of God we must put our faith in Him and trust that He will see us through. If we can submit to the events that are happening in our lives we can learn from them. These events can help us to draw closer to God and to build our relationship with Him.
There is a wonderful peace that comes from realizing that if you follow God’s instructions and obey Him, you can give all your problems and worries over to Him. If you draw closer to Him through prayer and repentance and try to live holy lives God will walk with you. You will feel his presence and He will give you peace and comfort. We are not alone, we are not children of the world who live in the darkness, but we are children of God, who live in the light!
When we study the scriptures we learn how God has always helped His people. This does not mean that they did not have tribulation in their lives. It just means that God was always there helping them through it. We have no fear when we know God is with us. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5: 4-5)
We must all turn our eyes upon Jesus. We are His children. Our lives should be a testimony to the fact that we have Jesus living inside of us. We must honour Him by living our lives as He would want us to do. We are a people set apart from the worldly system. Children of God, a beacon to the rest of the world.
