What Will the Kingdom Be Like?
Have you ever wondered what the Kingdom of God will be like’? Well, we are going to check through the Bible, God’s Word written, in an effort to find out! First, please note, those of the twelve tribes of Israel, the servant nation, who, because of their rebellion and sinfulness, were taken into captivity, escaped, and were scattered throughout the world, as the Bible says, to the waste places of the earth, and who, because of their disobedience to the Laws of God, lost their identity.
They in God’s good time were redeemed or brought back by the precious blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Today we are the nation and company of nations God said Israel would become (Gen. 35:11) the nation, the United States of America and the company of nations, the British Commonwealth, and kindred Celto Saxons. We know the time is short and therefore it behoves us to also know about the coming Kingdom and the signs of the time.
Before we discover what the Kingdom will be like, here are two very accurate descriptions from the Word of God. These tell us what it will be like before His return. “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars and upon earth distress of nations with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming upon the earth. For the powers of heaven shall be shaken (Luke 21:25 27) and in 2 Timothy 3:1 5 it says, “This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof.”
So what shall the Kingdom be like? … The Kingdom that Christ and His disciples continually spoke of? the Kingdom age or the Millennium is the prophetic 1000 year period when Christ shall reign (see Rev. 20:4 6), this to be followed by other phenomenal events. It is not the Grand Finale, but simply the Next Age. Where will it be?
It will be on this planet Rev. 11:15 says: “The Kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdom of our Lord.” The prayer Christ taught the disciples and us is, “Thy Kingdom come on earth,” and in the Old Testament, Isaiah 11:9, “The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
This Kingdom of God is already established, The Kingdom people were blessed by Jacob in Egypt; the laws by which it is to be governed were given by God to Moses at Mt. Sinai; the throne was established when David was anointed King (I Chron. 28:4 5). The Kingdom of Israel is to be restored. As Israel was a theocracy, government under God through Moses, so the Kingdom will be a Theocracy with the Messiah Jesus Christ, reigning in person. As Israel was a favoured people surrounded by others, the Kingdom will be surrounded by other nations. “And before Him shall be gathered all nations. He shall set the sheep nations on His right hand, but the goats on the left.” (Matt. 25:32 33). “He shall rule the nations with a rod of iron” (Rev. 12:5). People outside will follow the example of the Kingdom. “He shall reign until He puts all enemies under His feet” (Chron. 15:25). Ultimately EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW!
Like Israel under David, there will be subjects in the Kingdom. Overcormers; (born from above Christians) in this life will rule and reign over the heathen, who see His glory when He wins the battle for us. There will be salvation during the Millennium. “Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost will not be forgiven in this world (age), neither in the age to come” (Matt. 12:32). “There will be celestial bodies (go between heaven and earth), and bodies terrestrial (earthbound).” There will also be natural man in other nations outside the Kingdom (I Cor. 15:38 40). Christ will be present, “But without holiness no man shall see the Lord” (Heb. 12:14). Believers saw Him before His ascension.
Israel is to be a Kingdom of Priests (administrators) (Rev. 1:6 & 5: 10). Work will be for love rather than remuneration. Life may be similar to this age except on a much higher plane. The laws that were given to our forefathers God’s Laws will be the law of the land and these laws, given at Sinai, will be written into the hearts of His Kingdom people Israel (Jer. 31:33). Christ will rule in righteousness, justice and judgment. All institutions and systems unfit for the Kingdom will be destroyed in the end time catastrophe. There will be no usury, no interest. “My yoke (monetary system) is easy and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:30). Everyone will have his own house, vineyard and fig tree. He will not build and another occupy (Micah 4:4). No blockbusting and alien minorities taking over institutions His people establish (Matt. 22:11 13). There will be no sickness, sorrow or suffering. Our youth will be restored like eagles’. There will be no more infant, aged or infirm (Isa. 65:20). All will be at their prime.
“The lion will eat straw like the ox” (Isa. 11:6&7). People will be vegetarians and God’s natural foods will be the diet. There will be flowers, fruits and vegetables, colours, sounds, fragrances, brilliance and beauty beyond the imagination; amazing conveniences, space travel, advancement in intelligence beyond finite comprehension.
“Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Isa. 2:4). Peace at last through the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ! “Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun” (Matt. 13:43), and “The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isa. 11:9). Christ shall reign forever (age long) as King of kings and Lord of Lords … in perfect union of church and state.
With regard to the evil situation in the world today, God has given us instruction and comfort let us be wise and follow them. “When ye see these things begin to come to pass then look up and lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:8). “In your patience possess ye your souls” (Luke 21:19). “A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thee.” (Psalm 91:7). “Watch and pray” (Mark 13:48). May Christ’s return be soon (no man knows the day nor the hour). So let us pray without ceasing, for His holy Name’s sake, for the sake of the Kingdom, and for the oath or covenant that God made with us at Mt. Sinai. He will cause us to turn to Him as soon as we call upon Him. The Bible says we will call upon Him (Isa. 65:24) “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Pray God it may be soon, and, may the peace of God rest and abide with you and yours as each and every day passes.
