The Times and Seasons
“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” (1Thess. 5:1-5)
When we look at all the events happening in the world today it is hard to believe that many, especially Christians, still don’t realize how bad things are. I assume they still think that things will change and get better. I personally have a hard time believing this because things are so bad that it seems we are living in times similar to the days of Noah and they did not get better then. God had to intervene and destroy the evil as it was so bad and except for Noah and his house, they were all destroyed. “And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” They were saved by going into the Ark that God had told Noah to build and the waters came and destroyed all living things on the earth. The Bible says that when the Lord returns to save us conditions will be like those in Noah’s time. “And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-27) I find it interesting too that Gen. 7:16 says that it was the Lord that shut him in. The Lord had decided that the time was up and shut the door. “And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.” (Gen. 7:15-16) This shows us that we should be able to recognize the times and seasons we are in before the Lord shuts us in for our protection and He destroys our enemies.
Could this be when we go into our chambers for a little moment until He destroys our enemies? “Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.” (Isa. 26:20-21) There is a time coming which I believe will be very soon when the Lord will save us from all this evil. We are the children of light, not of darkness like this world. Fortunately, we are blessed as we have a historic prophetic view of the House of Israel from its beginnings while other Christians are more spiritual in their viewpoint of prophecy. Therefore, it is then hard to see who is who and how they fit into prophecy. This is why most people are not able to recognize the times and the seasons. We are waiting for God to open their eyes to reveal this to His people.
Our wonderful Father knows us and loves us. He has not forgotten His Covenant with His people. I love Isaiah 65:24 where it says, “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” He knows us so well and He is ready to help us and save us even before we know it ourselves.
What a wonderful and faithful God we worship and praise.
