The Signet, The Bracelets, And The Staff
By the time you read this article, the Coronation of King Charles 3rd – unless something unexpected happens – will be imminent. And whilst I am not personally happy with some of King Charles’ activities, we know that in both Houses of Israel and of Judah, there have always been good – and bad kings. So, we shall see.
The Coronation itself is a good opportunity for Identity believers to awaken people’s awareness to the link with the Biblical Israelite Kings, and of our own Royal family, especially concerning the actual Coronation service. So hopefully King Charles’ Coronation will not be too watered down despite him wanting it to be shorter than that of his mother’s!
But it is not so much the Coronation itself that I intend to focus upon here, rather its significance and links to our Israelite ancestry, which are quite profound – and bring to your attention one or two things that may previously have not been considered.
The reading at the beginning, taken from Genesis 49:10, is taken from Jacob/Israel’s prophecies given to his sons shortly before he died. We read that the Sceptre would not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes – and that unto Him would the gathering of the people be.
When Our Lord walked this earth in His first incarnation, He did not at that time, come to sit upon a throne. The Jewish people were (and still are) awaiting a Messiah to do just that, but of course they rejected Him then, and most of them still do. There was not in fact a king over the land of Palestine, of the Davidic line at that time. Herod was an Idumean, and as far as the people of Palestine were aware, the Royal seed of the House of David, through the last king Zedekiah, had all been killed – and the kingly line come to an end.
We of course know different – that the Davidic line had been transferred elsewhere, via king Zedekiah’s daughter, and the joining of the Zarah line. And so, the prophecy still runs true, even to this day, with the seat of David now residing in the British Isles. And indeed, there is no denying that at such Royal events as Coronations, Jubilees and other celebrations, there is always a great ‘gathering’ of people – reminding us of the even greater gathering that will occur upon Our Lord’s return, as the forever King of, not only Israel, but the WHOLE world.
Much that is written about the Regalia of the Coronation is centred upon the links with the coronations of the Biblical kings going back to King David, and even King Saul, and this is certainly very relevant, especially as it is not repeated in any other monarchy bearing country in the world. However, I would like to just consider three lesser items of the regalia used in the Coronation service.
But, first of all please read the following, taken from Genesis 38:15-18; “When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot: because she had covered her face. And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee: (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law). And she said, what wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it? And he said, what pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.”
Tamar knew these items would undeniably identify Judah, and when a few months later she was found to be pregnant, and accused of playing the harlot – under threat of death for her crime – when she produced the signet, bracelets and staff, Judah not only acknowledged them, he also accepted her rightful reasons for these actions.
As we know there were twin sons born to Tamar – Pharez – from whom King David was descended, and Zarah of the Scarlet Thread. So, it should not surprise us to find examples of these items of Judah’s identity pledge, not only in the Biblical Royal Regalia, but also amongst our own – if our Royal family are indeed descended from him.
Taking the Signet to be in the form of a ring – after all a seal would be more easily accommodated as such – one of my books on the Coronation tells me that the monarch is indeed presented with a ring – made specifically for each King or Queen’s coronation and placed on the fourth finger of the right hand, as a seal of faith and signifying the marriage of the monarch to the people.
The Bracelets or Gold Armills are placed on the Sovereign’s wrist during the Coronation service. They are referred to as ‘Bracelets of Sincerity and Wisdom’ and are thought to relate to ancient symbols of Knighthood and military leadership. We can also read in 2 Samuel 1 v 10, with reference to the death of Saul, “I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was upon his arm, and have brought them ……. unto my Lord (David)”.
The Rod or Staff that is used currently for our Coronations, is ‘St Edwards’ Staff and an exact copy of that used in the Coronation of Edward the Confessor and is topped with an Orb surmounted by a Cross. (I believe all the Tribal leaders of Israel possessed their own staffs, and Moses held up his to cause the waters of the Red Sea to part).
These then are the examples of the Pledges given to Tamar by Judah for identification purposes, which served to make valid Pharez and Zarah as true heirs, and they are indeed amongst those included within our Royal Regalia.
I would also like to consider the Ampulla, which is the vessel containing the Holy Oil used to anoint the Monarch. This Ampulla is shaped like a bird. It is in the shape of a golden eagle with outspread wings and is apparently similar to that used by early Britons for anointing their dead.
With the eagle I believe we have another indicator of the identity of both the British Royal Family and the Anglo-Saxon Celto peoples. First of all in Exodus 19:4-6 we read; “Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bare you on eagles wings and brought you unto Myself. Now therefore if ye will obey My voice indeed, and keep My Covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people for all the earth is Mine: and ye shall be unto Me a Kingdom of Priests and an Holy Nation.”
We also consider Ezekiel 17 regarding the prophecy of the great eagle with great wings that told of the transfer of the Throne via the King’s daughter (the tender twig), (verse 22/23, but read the whole chapter) and of the ships of Dan – the Eagle was both their standard and figurehead – as transport. See also; “And thou profane, wicked Prince of Israel, whose day is come, when your iniquity shall have an end, thus saith the Lord God: Remove the diadem, and take off the crown.; this shall not be upon the same; exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I will overturn, overturn, overturn it; and it shall be no more (overturned) until He comes whose right it is; and I will give it to Him.” (Ezekiel 21:22-27)
Finally let us not forget Westminster Abbey, and the Coronation Stone (which will have travelled from Edinburgh Castle for the Coronation). The Abbey was consecrated to God in 1296, the same year that the Stone was first brought there. And there is an Abbey legend going back to 605 AD which describes how a fisherman on the Thames near the Abbey one night had a vision whereby he saw “a ladder set up on the earth, and angels ascending and descending”. (A prophecy of the Stone’s eventual arrival?). The legend is, or more likely – was – officially recorded in secular books on Westminster Abbey.
The Throne belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ, and King Charles is its current guardian – let us hope that his eyes will be open to this fact as he becomes anointed– and we should pray that the current turning away from all things Godly will be reversed and the people instead will turn back to the Lord while they still can – for the time is very short!
Amen.
