The Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God
Many are the names and attributes of Jesus in the Scriptures, all indicative of His high office.
In Genesis He is Shiloh
In Deuteronomy He is the Lord God
In the Psalms He is the Anointed
In Daniel He is the promised Messiah
In Zechariah Jesus is the Branch of Righteousness
In Isaiah He is Counsellor and Immanuel
In Matthew He is the Bridegroom and the Christ
In Mark He is the Holy One of God
In Luke our Lord is the Prophet
In John He is the Resurrection
In the Acts of the Apostles, He is the Judge
In Timothy Jesus is the Seed of David and Mediator
In Ephesians Jesus is the Chief Corner Stone.
In the Book of Revelation our Lord is the Bright and Morning Star,
the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God.
The Lion of Judah has become over the centuries the cognizance of the people of Judah and thus a witness to the continuing existence of the nation of Israel. As the Lamb of God Jesus is the propitiation for our sins and by His shed blood the Redeemer of Israel.
