The Four Seasons
Good day to each of you reading this column on the four seasons and its importance to each of us.
Before we begin, let’s laugh and then get into the lesson— When does it start to rain money? When there is a change in the weather. What’s the difference between weather and climate?
You can’t weather a tree, but you can climate!
I asked Siri, “Surely the weather is not going to be this miserable again tomorrow?” She replied, “Yes it will be and don’t call me Shirley.”
If you make a lot of mistakes when texting in cold weather, you need to get warm. It’s an early sign of typo-thermia.
It was so hot the other day that even the mosquitoes were dropping like flies. And What’s worse than raining cats and dogs? Hailing taxis.

As many of you are aware, my wife and I are avid gardeners as we enjoy the outdoors, the flowers, the smells, the color, the beauty and the splendor of each season.
Have you noticed that colorful flowers bloom all four seasons?
Do you take a walk in your yard to see your efforts or digging, cultivating and watching that 1 gallon container turn into a big bush in years to come?
Have you ever thought what it would be like if we only had two seasons such as Summer and Winter without Spring and Fall?
What man could put all four seasons together for the flowers to bloom in their time, for fruit trees to produce and be picked in their time and for the bees to pollinate in their time?
The one subject we can talk about is the weather—How hot? How cold? Will it rain or why are we getting too much rain? Why does it always rain on the weekends? Why are we drying up and getting no rain? Why are we sweating when we go to work? When will spring come, I’m tired of winter or when will fall come, it’s just too hot?
We never hear the animals complain, the flowers still bloom, and the ground still produces in its season. Please tell me—why does the sunflower stand tall in the heat of the day and drip water pellets when it’s raining with a big smile?
Who commands it to rain on one side of the road and not on the other side?
When the northern wind blows with such ferocity, trees bend freely from side to side, never snapping just swaying like a beautiful song?
Many of us are in awe when a lightning storm approaches as we watch sky light up like a Christmas tree and not aware that lightning supplies nitrogen fixation or nitrogen in the atmosphere transformed into a plant-usable form.
As one reads the Bible, we know that God created vegetation; seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it according to their kinds, but when did we hear about the seasons? The seasons are first introduced in Genesis 1:14 (NIV) And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.
Now turn to Psalms 104:19 (NIV) He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sunwhen to go down.
Without the creation of the moon, how would we mark the seasons? Take that Clarence Darrow & John Scopes!
Man, in his infinite wisdom, loves to tinker—we love the challenge to try to show up the Creator and make things better because we think we can, and one of those challenges is to control the weather.
Man thinks he can “seed clouds” to make it rain, prolong seasons to generate more crops, make God out to be the villain for climate control.
