The Dilemma Addressed
A reader recently asked me if I have action plan to stem the tide of wholesale judgment and destruction in America. Since this is a universal dilemma among the many nations of Israel, and since it is of utmost importance, I thought I would address this publicly.
The best response I can give regarding an action plan to avoid wholesale judgement and destruction in would be to quote our God, who said … “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
This may sound simplistic to some, and I have heard through the grapevine that some are tired of hearing it, but that just underscores the need to keep repeating it. In our estimation it is the only remedy for our national ills.
The world is in a mess, and we believe it is due to our national sins. The many nations of Israel are falling apart. I noticed years ago that the state of the world depends on God’s Israel people. As Israel goes, so goes the world. When we are walking closely with God, not only are we blessed, the whole world is blessed, secure and at peace. But when we are disobedient toward God, not only are we cursed, the entire world suffers.
In Deuteronomy 28:1-14, we read about all the blessings that are ours when we are obedient to God; then in verses 15-68 we read about all the curses that we will not be able to escape if we turn away from God. In particular, verse 43 says, “The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.” Sound familiar?
All of the curses found in Deuteronomy 28:15-68 should sound familiar to the reader because that is where we live — and it’s all because we have turned away from God as a people. We have concerned ourselves with pleasing our own fleshly desires and we are reaping the bitter fruit of the seeds that we have sown.
2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us that national repentance is the only answer. “If my people… “ … It has to be God’s people, the descendants of Jacob-Israel, the Caucasian people of the world. We are the only ones who can turn the tide.
“Humble themselves….” I have noticed that God’s Israel people are sadly lacking in humility, but abundant in pride. This cannot be the case if we want strength with God. When we are weak, He is strong. Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.
“Pray…. “We must be a people devoted to prayer, and we must pray according to His Will. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13. It is the perfect guideline tohelp us pray aright.
“Seek His Face … “ When we want to see someone’s face, we must draw close to them. The closer we draw to God, the better we see His blessed Face. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to us.
“Turn from their wicked ways . “ God’s people have wicked ways. We must search our hearts and ask God’s help in becoming aware of those wicked ways, and then we must purge ourselves of them.
When we do what God herein instructs us to do, then we have His Word that He will hear our prayers and will forgive our sin and will heal our land.
It is painfully obvious that revival is needed among God’s people, but revival will never come without national repentance, and national repentance will not come without personal repentance among God’s people.
May God be pleased to show each and every one of us wherein we are lacking, and may He then help us to do that which is needful.
