Modern Israel – Important

When we proclaim that the Anglo Saxon, Celtic, Nordic and related peoples are descended from ancient Israel, we are often met with, “So what?” Why would it be important to know who we are and are there any benefits? When the Assyrian empire crumbled, the exiled Israelites escaped by the way of Aserath, as documented by Ezekiel. Yes, they moved into Europe, travelling across the European continent occupying Scandinavia, other coastal countries and finally, the British Isles. Isaiah 49 : 20 says, “The children that thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too straight for me; give place to me that I may dwell.’ Apparently, it was revealed to Isaiah that the Israelites would strike out from the Isles and occupy the desolate places of the earth. So, they migrated to North America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Now it must be understood that when I refer to modern Israel, I am not referring to the Israeli State domiciled in Palestine; they are descended from Esau and are called Edomites or Idumeans in the Bible.

In looking at Isaiah, I have found some interesting passages that, I believe, shed light on, this topic. I will quote some and since Isaiah used 66 chapters to document what the Lord revealed to him, it has to be a mere sampling. I would suggest reading some of the surrounding verses to obtain a fuller picture. Also, I am not discussing the great prophecies regarding Jesus’ birth, death or kingdom rule which we hear in our churches at Christmas. The quote in the first paragraph suggests that Isaiah knew of the dispersions and migrations of the twelve tribes. I have selected passages that refer to the identity, the gathering, the ruler, the benefits and the non-Israelites.

On the question of the identity, I would ask you to consider the following. 33: 13, “Hear ye that are far off, what I have done; and ye that are near, acknowledge My might.” 49: 1 & 6, “Listen, 0 isles unto me; and harken ye people, from far; the Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother he hath made mention of my name. And He said, It is a light thing that thou should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give thee to be a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be My salvation to the ends of the earth. ” 51: 1 & 2, “Harken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord; look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence you are digged. Look unto Abraham your father and to Sarah that bare you; for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” 60 : 9, “Surely the isles shall wait for Me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord thy God and to the Holy One of Israel because He hath glorified thee.” For me, these statements leave no doubt that the Lord revealed to Isaiah, the dispersal of the tribes far from the kingdom of David and Solomon.

Please consider the following with respect to the gathering of the tribes. You will recall in Jacob’s blessing to Judah, he told him that a ruler would not depart from between his feet until Shiloh come and unto Him should be the gathering of the people. 35: 10, “And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” 41: 8 & 9, “But thou, Israel, art My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, thou art My servant; I have chosen thee and not cast thee away.” 43: 1, 3, 5 & 6, “But now, thus saith the Lord who created thee Jacob, Fear not; for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by My name (Christian); thou art mine. For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour; I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Fear not; for I am with thee; I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back; bring My sons from far, and My daughters from the ends of the earth.” 54: 5, “For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of Hosts is His name; and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called.” For me, these passages not only proclaim the gathering of the people, according to Jacob’s prophecy, but show the special relationship to Jesus, the Holy One of Israel, of husband and Redeemer.

And what does Isaiah reveal about the ruler of the tribes of Israel? 11: 1, 2 & 5, “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots; And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His reins.” 28: 16, “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.” 33: 22, “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; He will save us.” 40: 10, “Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand and His arm (Jesus) shall rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.” This is confirmed by Jesus Himself in the Book of Revelation where He states that His reward is with Him to give to every man according as his work shall be. So, we shall not be languishing in heaven, as many believe, but working in His kingdom here on earth. Hallelujah!

For being the servants of the Holy One of Israel, what are some benefits and assurances to be received? 1: 18, “Come now and let us reason together, saith the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” 2: 3, “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” 43: 15, “I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.” 45: 25, “In the Lord shall ALL the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.” 54: 17, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the Lord.” 60: 10 & 11, “And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee; for in My wrath, I smote thee, but in My favour, have I had mercy on thee, Therefore, thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.” 61: 5 & 6, “And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord; men shall call you the Ministers of our God; ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.”

So, this paints a glorious picture of the Israelites, future rulers of the earth under Jesus, the Holy One of Israel, but what about the gentiles (other nations)? 56: 6 & 7, “Also, the sons of the stranger that join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of My covenant; even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer; their burnt offerings and sacrifices shall be accepted on My altar; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people.” This certainly ties in with Jesus offering everlasting life to ALL believers in Him and as St. Paul stated, heirs according to the Promise (the promise to Abraham).

In my King James Bible, the various chapter headings refer constantly to the church but the text belies that referring only to Israel. The whole story tells of Christ’s redemption of ALL Israel and shared rulership with Him in His kingdom on earth which will include all kingdoms on earth and His glory shall cover the earth! What a heritage! Is this for you? If you are still not sure, read the quotes above (and there are many more!) as though you were an Israelite. How does it feel? The Lord revealed to Isaiah His plans for the future of Israel. We will close with one more quotation. 64: 4, “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, 0 God, beside Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiteth for Him.”
