Jeremiah of the House of Levi

The prophet Jeremiah was a Levite and also of the priesthood. He lived in the time of the Babylonian invasions of the kingdom of Judah, and therefore he mourned for his people and their future. In response to this, God gave him a great promise. “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness. For thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.” Jeremiah 33:14-18. The popular interpretation of this prophecy is that the whole thing will be fulfilled in the Kingdom Age. However, this would mean there will be animal sacrifice in the Kingdom Age, performed by the Levites. Any thinking Christian can see the error in that theory. The apostle John said the Holy City will not have a temple. “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.” Revelation 21:22.

The Israel Truth interpretation of Jeremiah’s prophecy is that the throne of David and the sacrifices of the Levites would continue from Jeremiah’s time on. We know both of those stopped with the Jews in Jeremiah’s time. However, Jeremiah took the crown princess Tephi to Ireland where she married King Eochaidh II, who was of the tribe of Judah, and the throne of David has continued in the British Isles to this day. King Eochaidh abolished Baal worship in his realm, and Jeremiah established schools of religion in Ireland. The Druids, who were of the tribe of Levi, continued the Levitical sacrifice of animals. There were Levites wherever there were pockets of Israelites, in fulfillment of the prophecy, “I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.” Genesis 49:7. I believe the Druids of the British Isles were Levites. The promise given them in Jeremiah’s prophecy was that they would continually offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. The only way they could lose that privilege was if they willingly gave it up. That is exactly what happened centuries later when Joseph of Arimathea and other missionaries came and preached the Gospel in Britain. The Druids accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, and there was no longer any need for animal sacrifice. Another Levite, Aristobulus, became the first Bishop of the newly formed British church.

the reigning monarch on the British throne will willingly give up the throne to Jesus Christ

Just as the Levites willingly gave up their sacrifices and burnt offerings, so too the reigning monarch on the British throne will willingly give up the throne to Jesus Christ when He returns. He will not take it by force, for it was given by promise. The transfer of the throne will take place in the New Jerusalem, and since only Christians can enter the Holy City, it will have to be a Christian on the throne when the Lord returns. This could be our present Queen. She is known to be a Christian, attested to by Billy Graham and others. She has been known to give people copies of the book “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis, to introduce them to the Christian faith. In an end of the year broadcast, when she spoke about the various religions in the United Kingdom, she stressed that her choice is Christianity. The time could be very close when Shiloh (Jesus Christ) comes to take the sceptre. (Genesis 49:10). He will crown Himself, for He is both High Priest and King. In that day, all Israelites who are Christians will operate as priests and kings. “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood; And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:5(b),6.
