Expect the Unexpected
“The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.” (Isa. 24:19-21)
We are living in extremely interesting times. The foundations of our world are being destroyed and the future is full of uncertainty. Everywhere we turn we see the unexpected happening. People are confused and lost as they see their homes and livelihoods being destroyed by fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, etc. It is not only natural disasters, but also financial, ecclesiastical and governmental changes and upheavals causing our distress.
Are these signs that Mystery Babylon is falling?
We will have to watch to see what happens next! It seems everywhere you hear the phrase or something like it, “This doesn’t normally happen here”! Well it does happen here now and these disasters of whatever sort appear to be the new normal. So, expect the unexpected, it is the new norm. Violence of all sorts, drug addiction, suicide and general chaos are everywhere and we seem helpless in our ability to fix the problems. People are angry and depressed, and many have lost all hope.
Why is this happening? Well I think the first part of Isaiah 24 expresses it very well, “Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.” (Isa. 24:1-6)
These words too from Hosea 4:1-3 are heartbreaking, as there have been so many reports lately of marine life washing up on the shores around the world. The oceans and wildlife are dying. “Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.” I have just read an article that says they predict that two-thirds of animals will be extinct by 2020! The latest is a massive die-off of marine life along the entire Florida west coast since May, thebigwobble.org/2018/09/it-is-astonishing-jaw-dropping.html.
This is just one of many such stories that are not being properly reported.
It does appear to be quite a mess, doesn’t it? Yet, we know that mankind is not in control, even if he thinks he is. Our great and merciful God Almighty is in control and He is shaking the nations. He is moving them in a direction and plan of His Making, but we can be sure it will end in victory, as we see our Lord and Saviour come to rule and reign. Expect the unexpected as God works in mysterious ways and His ways are not our ways. I would say expect to be amazed at the way future events happen. It may be a bumpy ride but God will be with us all the way if we will only repent of our wicked ways and call upon Him to help us.
“…for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.” (Isa. 24:18)
