Earth Events
“The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.” (Psa. 24:1-6)
We currently appear to be in a time of much upheaval in and on the earth. There are many opinions as to why this is happening but in my opinion it stems from the spiritual battle raging on the earth, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:12). We are in a time of great darkness on the earth and sin abounds. This cannot help but be reflected in the earth activity as well. God is allowing this judgment on our lands because of our sin and also because we have not been good stewards of the earth itself. The earth is the LORD’s and it is His to use as he pleases when we do not obey Him. He allows it because of our sin and because we have abandoned Him. Until we fall to our knees and ask for His forgiveness and His help it will only continue.
I am writing this article on May 26, 2019 and today there has been a large M 8.0 earthquake in Peru, some reports even had it higher than that for awhile. Website thebigwobble.org reported “This morning a massive earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 stuck northern Peru according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake, at an “intermediate depth” of around 110 kilometres, was felt around the country and even hundreds of miles away in the capital city of Lima, local authorities reported.” We also must watch New Zealand as this was reported today as well, “A swarm of earthquakes has rocked White Island, New Zealand with 196 quakes of various magnitudes recorded since Thursday. White Island, or Whakaari, lies 50km offshore from Whakatane and is an active marine volcano. GeoNet duty volcanologist Natalia Deligne confirmed that a swarm of quakes started on Thursday and over the last 24 hours the rate and magnitude had increased.”
The bigwobble.org is also reporting “The Pacific Ring of Fire has ramped itself up this weekend with the biggest quake of the year so far, two major volcano eruptions and a swarm of almost 200 quakes in northern New Zealand. Mount Sinabung Volcano, North Sumatra exploded during last night, generating an ash plume that rose to possibly up to 15 km altitude (50,000ft).
In the meantime, we are also having major tornado activity in the United States, flooding around the globe, fires already starting in forested areas, and food crises developing due to the devastation of crops and the fields around the world due to flooding, etc. NWS issued an exceptionally rare high risk outlook for destructive tornadoes and severe flooding in Oklahoma and Texas through Monday night – Two million Americans were in the volatile zone. In Alberta, Canada, the Chuckegg Creek wildfire is burning out of control – already 25,334 hectares (62,602 acres) in size and is growing.
Global food crisis are predicted ahead as extreme weather events devastate crops and fields around the world. And it is not just happening in the USA. Extreme weather events are devastating crops and thus the food business around the world. From Australia to North Korea and Argentina food shortages are being reported. Bigwobble.org reported in late May, “Half the expected growth in salmon volumes wiped out this year!” Salmon fishing industry on the verge of collapse after almost 10 million fish die in Norway. We are also experiencing loss of fish on both the West and East coasts of North America.
These are all problems that we are experiencing due to the sin in our lands. And remember, these are just a sample of all the events on the earth on the day of this writing and there will very likely be more before you receive this magazine. It is important that we be watchful as these events will continue to happen. It is really amazing how much we do not hear on our news stations today. As we approach the end of this age and the Lord’s Return, we must remember the words in Luke 21:27-28, “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” This is our hope through all these events and we will be comforted. “Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.” (Isa. 49:13)
