Cutting Israel Short
The Bible says that in the time of King Jehu God cut Israel short. It seems to me that a similar judgment has been happening to our Israel people in our generation. “In those days the Lord began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel; From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.” II Kings 10: 32, 33. The great advances under David and Solomon were reversed and the nation of Israel was diminished in area and population.
All of this was leading up to the final defeat of Israel by the Assyrians. The nation of Judah was put under judgment too. Regarding a war between Judah and Syria the Bible says: “And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus. For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the Lord delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.” II Chronicles 24: 23, 24. The final judgment against Israel and Judah came by the Assyrians and Babylonians and the people were removed from the Holy Land. Their sins were many. “And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.” II Kings 17: 16, 17.
As the time of final judgment approached, the leaders of the people were corrupt and sinful and God took away some of the righteous people. “Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant. The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.” Isaiah 56: 12 to 57: 2. We do not usually think of death as being a blessing for the righteous, but the Lord is with them at the time of death and scripture says: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116: 15.
In our generation we can see that our people are being reduced in numbers as well as influence. The British Empire is gone and the United States is plunging headlong into suffocating debt which is causing them to drastically cut back on their military spending. Economic sanctions will not work in preventing Russian interference in the Ukraine but the west has little else to rely upon to prevent Russian expansion. The Bible says eventually our power will be scattered (Daniel 12: 7). The marginal note in my Bible says the word shattered is more accurate than scattered. I believe our power will be shattered in the coming conflict which I believe will begin in the Middle East. We will be pressed so hard by the enemy that it will drive our Anglo-Saxon people to their knees and they will ask God for help. God will not answer right away but He will answer in time. Many of our people will be terrified, thinking a nuclear holocaust is approaching.
Our glory as the people of God is gone. We are not Christian nations any more. The Anglo-Saxons in North America are just another ingredient in a conglomerate soup of ethnicities. We are overwhelmed. Nothing short of a revival and the return of Christ can save us now. The good news is that He is returning soon. “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.” Isaiah 35:4.
