Behold He Cometh
In our text, the disciples of our Lord wanted to know when they should expect His Return and the end of the age. Christ responded by giving them a detailed description of how things will be at the time of His Return, and of the end of this age. His response is found in Matthew 24:4-51, Mark 13:5-37, Luke 21:8-36 and I would add Luke 17:22-30.
He said there would be wars, violence, lawlessness, drought, famine, earthquakes and disease. Families would be split apart, people would stop listening to preachers, the love of many would grow cold — and perhaps the most telling — sodomy would abound and become rampant (Luke 17:28-30), and our people would be hated of all nations (Matthew 24:9).
Most of these things have been with us throughout history, but right now we are at a time in history where it is all happening at the same time, right before our very eyes. “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations (Gr. ethnos, or, races) for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.” Matthew 24:9-10
In addition to all of this, some remarkable things have happened over the past several weeks which would seem to indicate that things are escalating now more quickly than before.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the longest serving Sovereign in British history, which I believe is evidence of the longsuffering of God. But she is passed, and her son is now His Majesty King Charles III. Though the Queen has not been gone long, much has happened since her passing. She had welcomed Liz Truss as her new Prime Minister just two days before she passed, but that only lasted 50 days.
Things have gone downhill fast since the Queen’s passing. Now there is a new Prime Minister, who is neither a racial Brit nor a Christian. He is a Hindu of Indian descent! Does this sound familiar? Did not something similar happen in America in 2008 when a Kenyan Muslim became president of the US? Some say he is still running the US from behind the scenes. Our people continue to be replaced. What is next? Will Charles’ coronation be nixed? Hindu India is saying that the days of the British Empire have now come full circle.
I have been informed that there is a sense of foreboding among the people of the UK, and rightly so. But beyond the obvious reasons we would add that there was a partial eclipse of the sun over the UK as this Indian Hindu became the new Prime Minister. We think this is remarkable.
Add to all of this the many rainbow sightings upon the occasion of the Queen’s passing, and it seems to this preacher that the LORD is telling His people something.
As I wrote in a previous article, the rainbow is a symbol of God’s authority. That being the case, it is also a sign of covenant as regards God and His people, as was the case when God made the Noahic covenant. We believe the rainbows which were seen upon the Queen’s passing were sent to remind us that we should be sure to remember the covenant that God made with Abraham our father, as recorded in 1 Chronicles . . . “O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations; even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac; and hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant . . .” 1 Chronicles 16:13-17

Things are bad, and it seems they may be about to get worse — perhaps much worse — but I exhort you to remember who you are, and whose you are. We are the people of God. We are the apple of His eye. We are the treasure in the field which He gave everything to purchase. He will not leave us, nor will He ever forsake us.
We are His beloved child, and even though we have strayed away into a far country as the prodigal, if we simply turn our hearts toward Him, we will see our gracious Father RUN to help us!
Take comfort in that. Take courage in that. Praise Him for that. Press on, people of God! And LOOK UP!
