Babylon Will Fall

Babylon was a great world empire of the sixth century B.C. but it is more than that. In the Israel Truth movement, we talk about the Babylonian succession of empires as the sequential empires of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and European powers. They all had one thing in common. They tried to rule the world without yielding to our Lord God. Babylon is still with us, and I believe it is soon coming to an end.

The Babylonian succession of empires was represented in a dream King Nebuchadnezzar had which Daniel interpreted. “Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.” Daniel 2:31-35. The mapping of the empires to metals in the image is as follows: Babylon (gold), Medo-Persia (silver), Greece (brass), Rome (iron), European powers (iron and clay). The Roman Empire was represented by the legs of iron. Following the dissolution of that empire there were ten European kingdoms that emerged within the area of the Western Roman Empire. They are identified in Charles Jennings book The Book of Revelation From An Israelite and Historicist Interpretation in his review of the thirteenth chapter of Revelation. They were the Bavarians, Franks, Burgundians, Alemanni, Suevi, Visigoths, Alans, Ostrogoths, Lombards, and Vandals. I believe those were the ten toes in the dream of Nebuchadnezzar. However, I also believe the Babylonian succession continued in Europe in Roman Catholic countries beyond those original ten countries and is still there.

The desire for a one world government continues in Europe. An example is the World Economic Forum which continues to plan for the fulfilment of their vision of world governance. Russia was part of it until Putin decided it infringed too much on Russian sovereignty. Russia is taking over the Ukraine to maintain a buffer between Russia and Europe. It appears the communist world is against modern Babylon. The United States and Canada have fallen in with Babylon, but this could change for the United States with the mid-term elections. Roman Catholics such as Joe Biden and Justin Trudeau will naturally align themselves with the European one world vision, but Protestants might be more protectionist of sovereignty. I doubt that China will want to be part of a one world government unless they control it. In the conflict I believe is coming, the communist world will be allied with Muslim nations against the West and against the modern state of Israel. I believe Babylonian Europe will meet its judgement during that conflict, and North America will not escape punishment. “And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.” Revelation 18:21. After that, the Lord will go forth and save his people Israel who cry out to Him. They are mostly the Anglo-Saxon and kindred peoples of the world.

The prophecies of the fall of Babylon in the Old Testament do not always fit ancient Babylon. I believe many of them refer to the fall of present-day Babylon. “For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast. In those days, and in that time, saith the Lord, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the Lord their God. They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.” Jeremiah 50:3-5. This is about the re-gathering of Israel to Jesus Christ at his return under the new covenant. It does not fit the return of Judah to the Holy Land under the Medo-Persian Empire because that did not include the lost tribes of Israel. The prophecy speaks of destruction from the north. I believe that is coming on Roman Catholic Europe.

The prophet Isaiah also prophesied of the destruction of Babylon. “The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.” Isaiah 13:4-5. Then in the next chapter, the prophecy is against the king of Babylon. “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” Isaiah 14:12-15. Satan is the ruler of Babylon. His punishment will come soon after the fall of Babylon.

I believe the prophecies against Babylon point to a war and destruction from the north. If modern Babylon is mostly in Europe, then I believe the destruction will be poured out by the Communist Islamic conglomerate known as Gog, led by Russia. It is referring to the Third World War of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 and Zechariah chapters 12 to 14. I believe the Roman Catholic countries of Europe must face judgement for the murder of millions of Protestants, their opposition to the reading of the Bible, their idolatry, and their worship of many spiritual entities that they label as saints. Europeans who have rejected Roman Catholic beliefs will not be saved. They have substituted atheism and agnosticism which are just as sinful as Roman Catholic dogma.

We must come out of Babylon and be born again of God’s Spirit, and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. His kingdom is coming.
