Awesome! (God Will Provide)
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” (Ecc. 3:1-8)
God’s blessings to his people are awesome! As we know, God led his people out of bondage (slavery) in Egypt by way of miraculous interventions that are nothing short of overwhelming if you think about it. Will He lead us out of the present bondage we are in by similar intervention?
I’m sure we are aware of the many miracles God performed so that Pharaoh finally let our people go, but I don’t think we comprehend the lengths God went to save us during and immediately after the exodus. Think of the logistics! Exodus 14: 21 says: “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land and the waters were divided.”
By some estimates there were between 2 and 3 million Israelites that made up the exodus and they had to get across the Red Sea at night. According to a Quartermaster General in the British Army, if they proceeded on a narrow path, double file, the line would have been 800 miles long and would have required 35 days and nights to get across. So there had to be space in the Red Sea, three miles wide, so that they could walk 5,000 abreast to get across in one night. Awesome!
Moses and his people were now alone in the desert, but what was he going to do with them? Think of the logistics of just keeping them alive. For example, they had to be fed and feeding 2 to 3 million people requires very much food. The Quartermaster General again estimates that Moses would have to have had 1,500 tons of food each day. This would require two freight trains, each a mile long, just for one day. And they were forty years in transit.
However, Exodus 16:4-5 states: ”Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law or not. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.” Thus, The Lord took care of his people throughout this time and interestingly, even if they were not yet ready to fully accept His commandments.
And the people murmured against Moses saying “What will we drink?” It is estimated that if they had only enough water to drink and wash a few dishes, it would take 11,000,000 gallons each day and a freight train with tank cars 1,800 miles long, just to bring water.
The multitude had come to Marah but they could not drink the waters there because they were bitter. Again, they were accommodated by God. Exodus 15:25 says “And he (Moses) cried unto the Lord and the Lord showed him a tree, which, when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet,” Verse 27 continues “And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.”
Speaking of camping, each time they ended a period of stay, a new campground two thirds the size of Rhode Island was required, or a total of 750 square miles. Also, in the desert, there would be virtually no firewood for cooking and warmth. This would take 4,000 tons of wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long, just for one day. I sincerely doubt that Moses planned for all this. He believed in God and God basically took care of these logistics.
So here we are today. How does this history in Exodus relate to our present situation? The Egyptians stated the obvious incredible truth in Exodus 14:25 “… Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians.” What an awesome realization!
We should look at the book of Revelation and apply the insights we have gained from the above review from Exodus to today. Revelation 18: 5 states speaking of Babylon “For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” In Genesis 11:4, Man, in his rebellion against God, already conspired to build a tower that would reach up to heaven. Now, in our time, their sins have reached there again and, as God came down and destroyed that structure with violence then, He is about to do so now to this modern system of unrighteousness, oppression and exploitation – what I would term the ‘deep state’.
Revelation 18:6 is significant as it relates to this evil system “Reward her even as she has rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.”
This is similar to Exodus 22:9. It is God’s measure. Man, in his defiance of God, will receive a double punishment. Bear in mind that the object of God’s wrath is the economic system. Man thinks that money is all you need for security, status and power and he does not care how he acquires it. The whole structure is founded on usury. The ordinary rank and file have to pay high taxes of interest to big financial corporations who have become stronger and stronger and more and more oppressive. We have thus become slaves again!
However, Revelation Chapter 18 foretells the complete economic collapse of this system of usury such as the world has never known. Interestingly, verse 7 describes “How much she has glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.” This is exactly what the so-called elite say in this present system. Just as ancient Babylon thought that she was secure forever, in the same way the rich of the earth think that they are safe and can live deliciously (as in Belshazzar’s feast in Daniel 5) and sit as a queen. But that night Babylon was taken and Belshazzar killed – just as suddenly and unexpectedly will the judgment on our Babylon come. “Therefore shall the plagues come in one day, death and mourning and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.” Revelation 18:8.
Our world today is one of wars and rumours of wars and we are fed fear constantly by the news media – the fear being that a third world war seems to be inevitable. I believe, however, that we should not fear this. Look what God did for us during the exodus from Egypt! Especially take note of what Moses said in Exodus 14:14 “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
