Sometimes God brings about a need in an organization and then fills that need through a special individual. This happened to us 2002. Although never having written articles to that point, Holly Mills joined the only other correspondent at the time, Brooks Alden, and began writing a column using the tagline, “As I See It.” It wasn’t long before letters began flowing in telling us how her messages were so inspiring and heartfelt. Holly is one of the fortunate ones who have known of the Israel Truth message from youth and it has always sustained her through her life’s journey. She had a successful career in the airline industry but always found time for charitable pursuits. She hosted an Israel Truth Bible Study for three years and takes every opportunity to immerse herself in other studies of Scripture. Perhaps her greatest strength is that she writes what she feels so passionately.
The world we live in today is becoming more and more difficult in which to feel comfortable. It sometimes feels like we live in a foreign place. The few chosen can feel very isolated at times from others around, as thoughts and desires are so different.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. I have listened to many talks on this whole subject in the last while and I believe one of the best ways for us to get through all of this is to remember to trust in God. He knows the beginning from the end and in His Word has given us the ways to keep our immune system strong.
I find these verses very fitting for what we are going through today. We need comfort while waiting for our Lord. A note in my Bible says, “This section of Isaiah’s prophecy (40:1—48:22) is often called the Book of Consolation.
Many of the earthly gods we worship are very appealing and for the most part on their own they are fine but it is when we put them above God and what the Bible says that we get ourselves in trouble and in the end we may find they are not satisfying.
These dark days will not last forever as a new dawn is approaching. In reality the nights do not really get darker before the dawn as dark is dark until the sun begins to rise, and we see the dawn. The Lord hears our cries, and He will soon intervene on our behalf.
I can’t help but believe that this is what is happening now. It seems especially since this COVID crisis that we have completely changed our behaviour. As a society we are now believing and doing things that we never would have put up with, even a year ago.
If Jesus were to return today would he find true faith in Him or would He find a lukewarm faith and say I never knew you. “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils?
The year 2020 has certainly been a year of upheaval and change. All of the foundations of our society have been shaken and the future seems uncertain. I have heard many people say that things will never be the same as they were before.
