Shall He Find Faith

“And The Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:6-8)

If our Lord Jesus were to return to this earth today, would he find faith? I don’t mean any faith, which we appear to have in abundance today. I mean the true faith of our fathers, the wonderful news of the Gospel of Salvation and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God on earth. Where is that faith today? It certainly isn’t in most of the churches or in the hearts of most Christians. Our churches are feeding us such a watered down message that it appears that almost anyone can be saved. All that you have to do is say a little prayer when you are asked to do so and wham, you are saved. Where is the call to repentance? Where is the understanding of Christ’s death on the cross, His resurrection and His coming again to set up His Kingdom on earth? Our Lord has been demoted in many cases to little more that a prophet or teacher.

In Luke 9:18-19 Jesus asks , “Whom say the people that I am? They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.” Doesn’t that sound almost like something we would hear today?

“He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.” (Luke 9:20) This we must believe if we are to be saved. The churches are doing great harm to their people when they preach a watered down gospel, including the statement that all paths lead to God, as some do now. Churches are losing their holiness. Serious dangers are threatening the churches today. These dangers are subtle and are causing great harm to the church and it’s people. Paul warns of this in Acts 20:29-30 “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”

Once our eyes are taken off Jesus, we are lost. Our dear Lord Jesus should be the centre of our lives. The Christian walk is not an easy one today as many are led to believe it should be. If you are a true believer you will find many difficulties in living in this World system. Your goal should be to keep your eyes on Jesus and His Kingdom. As the wonderful hymn says “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face and the things on earth will grow strangely dim, in the warmth of his glory and grace”. This is what we strive for. We must keep our eyes on Jesus. Let him direct our path. We must honour and obey him.

“Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:3)

You must have a change of heart and be converted. The Holy Spirit must come and live inside of you. This is the only way to understand God’s Word and to be able to hear His voice.

We must not be deceived by false philosophy. We are not respecting others if we continually feed them what they want to hear. The truth then becomes lost to them and they are not able to study God’s Word for themselves or hear His voice. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Col. 2:8)

We must always strive to speak the truth of God’s Word. If no one listens at least we have spoken the truth!
“And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious. But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. (Eze. 2:7-8)
