Thought for the Month – Light for the Journey
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Life is full of distractions. There is an overabundance of things that can claim our attention and occupy our minds. Some of these things are good, many of these things are not. There are things that tend to bless and edify, and there are things that defile and lead to depression, anger and lust.
It is a fundamental law that nothing can be added to a vessel that is full.
We need to fill our minds with those things that are pure and holy and edifying. Because when we fill our hearts and minds with those things that are true and pure and lovely and virtuous, there will be no room for that which would tend to defile to enter in.
The Word of God declares that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. Let us fill these temples with goodness and light.
Start your day each morning with prayer and Bible reading, and thus you will be better prepared to face the coming day with all of its distractions.
