January 2013 Letters
From Vancouver: “Brooks, do you ever feel like you’re out of step with the world?” It’s just so frustrating that I’m unable to convince any of my friends, my family, my associates, or, for that matter, anyone with whom I come into contact, about the importance of the Israel Truth. I feel so enthusiastic when I begin talking to them, wanting to share the greatest truth I’ve ever grasped but maybe I’m going about it all wrong, I don’t get anywhere. Not only do they refuse to even consider the possibility that we are Israel, but they often get angry, sometimes downright indignant that I would try to pass along a theory they know from television and print media to be far-fetched, even evil. And if I try to shed any light on today’s sorry mess using Biblical enlightenment, I will hear something like “I don’t want to hear about that!” or “I don’t want to talk about that!…..” (a summary of a conversation)
Hi Vancouver: I enjoyed our conversation and I could begin by saying, “Join the club.” It’s a tough sell, but as long as we are sowing the seeds of truth we are doing all we can. I don’t want to call it a lazy society but it certainly is indifferent. As all readers are aware, anyone in the Israel movement understands that the Israel message takes considerable study. Because of this, I believe the majority of our brethren are saying “I don’t have time for study, besides my minister, or the like, knows better.” Knowing you, I can say there are few like you that have such a passion for the truth, such a thirst for wisdom and such an exuberance and expression, as you convey the message of the Kingdom and Salvation, in conjunction with the Israel Truth. Still, we who know our identity can get mighty sad when we look at the world today and see all the wickedness and become puzzled when nothing seems to be done to stem its growth. I suppose he has yet to learn the great lesson of Ecclesiastes 1: 18, “For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.”
Wonderful inventions over the past half-century that have lifted the burdens of man.
You know, one of our past writers made the comment in an article, “Jesus came to set men free – free to think, free to live and to love and dream and do.” When you think of all the wonderful inventions and improvements to technology over the past half-century that have been put to work lifting the burdens of man, we should be in a virtual utopia. Yet, for the vast majority of mankind, there is no time to think, life has become a never-ending challenge making ends meet and servicing a heavy debt load that has reached frightening proportions. And so, our brothers and sisters, for the most part, have substituted deep analytical thinking with opinion packages arrived at through movies, television, magazines, newspapers, influential people, etc. As a result, collectively, we can be herded in any direction, adopt any line of thought, accept forms of evil as good and eagerly invite loss of freedoms. Sadly, the whole world is caught up in fear and trembling, but isn’t this what Jesus described that would precede the judgment of nations.
From Washington State: Brooks, I am intrigued that our churches today ignore the true identity of Israel and somehow believe the small population of Jewry comprises all the tribes of Israel. If that were truly the case, then God must have erred because He said in Genesis 28:14, “And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth.” In my files is a copy of a letter dated November 18th, 1918 from the Office of the Chief Rabbi who replied to an enquiry as to who comprises Jewry. He made these three statements:
The people known at present as Jews are descendants of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin with a certain number of the descendants of the tribe of Levi.
As far as is known, there is not any further admixture of other tribes.
The ten tribes have been absorbed among the nations of the world. (see II Kings Chap. 17, more specifically vs. 22 and 23)
Thanks Washington: Actually, there was a second letter from the Office of the Chief Rabbi dated July 4th, 1950 wherein they reiterated that the Jews of today do not represent the whole of the twelve tribes and that Jewry is considered as being descended from the ancient tribe of Judah and to a lesser extent, the tribe of Benjamin. Of course, we know that this is not altogether correct because Esther 8:17 showed that many other races converted to Jewry for fear of the Jews and secular history demonstrates that Idumea (Edom) was conquered by the Jews in 132 BC and forced to convert, also that the Khazars converted several centuries after Christ. This is why it is estimates that only a small percentage of Jewry is made up of Israelites.
The reference to the tribe of Benjamin does throw some doubt on the Rabbi including it in his reference of the makeup of modern Jewry. It’s true that the tribe of Benjamin was given to the southern nation of Judah when the tribes separated after Solomon’s death (1 Kings 11:36 & 12:21) but Jeremiah 6:1 told them to flee at a certain time. This took place at the time of 70AD. It’s interesting to read the eminent scholar, David Davidson’s comment on Benjamin, written around 1930. He said “Their [Jews] association with the tribe of Benjamin was broken at the siege of Jerusalem by Titus. This fact was realized by the Jewish Rabbi, Moses Maimonides, in the 12th century of our era. Moses Maimonides found that Benjamin existed as a distinct people in Western Europe, in close proximity to other dispersed tribes of Israel in Britain and Western Europe …”
Turning back to the previous letter, given authenticity of such men as Maimonides and Yair Davidy of the modern Israeli State, or the letters from the Office of the Rabbi, it is puzzling how the modern Church can shut their eyes to the Israel Truth, but they do.
