“What a Mess”
It is a small wonder that anyone living in today’s world can keep his or her sanity. Look around you when you are on the street, or in a shopping mall, or restaurant and you will often see people, especially the younger generation walking about in jeans with tears and holes on the knee, thighs and even buttocks and one is tempted to take these poor creatures to the nearest store and buy them new pants. But no! That is today’s fashion. It is all in one’s mindset.
It’s all in how you look at things in today’s permissive society. What was once offensive is now the norm and acceptable. It’s all about freedom of expression and it is this freedom that is the cause of a lot of unrest in the world today.
A recent video made in America by a man born in Egypt about the Life of Mohammad has the whole Muslim world in an uproar. There has been and currently is, rioting in a large part of the Middle East and North Africa, and as of this writing more than fifty people have been killed, including a US Ambassador to Libya, along with three others. [Ed. Later determined video not responsible] All because someone said something that the others do not agree with. The violence is abhorrent and I for one do not condone it, but one thing does stand out in all this, and that is the fact that the Muslims are willing to fight for something that they hold dear and sacred. That is more than can be said for the Christian community.
When, in the movies or so called art displays and in some off the wall writings, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is being derided and reviled, being urinated on and portrayed as a pedophile. All we Christians can and will do, by and large, is wring our hands and sigh and say how terrible it is, but we don’t get off our duff and do something about it. Shame on us! They fight for the honor of their prophet, but we cannot even defend our Lord and Savior and King, the Son of God.
St. Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6:11) and fight the good fight (1Tim. 6:12), but we, Christian soldiers, basically never leave the safety of our foxholes. And that is very sad! It is also a very clear sign of our Laodicean attitude, neither hot nor cold. We periodically get mail criticizing us on the Sabbath issue and telling us that if we insist on keeping the Lord’s Day instead of the Saturday Sabbath, all our work will be in vain and we will go to hell in a hand basket. Jesus said in Mark 2:27, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” He was telling the Pharisees not to sweat the little things, after they accused His Disciples of doing things, which they, the Pharisees, forbade on the Sabbath. Also in Hos. 2:11 we read that God promised to take away our Sabbaths and our Holy Days but He goes on in the same chapter telling us that He will restore His people in tender mercies and loving kindness.
Furthermore, the Sabbath was instituted as a rest day (Gen. 2:2,3) and not as a day of worship. We should worship our God everyday of the week, 24/7, and not just concentrate on one day only. Under the New Covenant all things have changed, because we could not keep all the laws and statutes as laid down in the Old Covenant (Jer. 31:31-33). People like to argue and fight over trivial things, but when it comes to things that really matter they often are out to lunch. People just can’t seem to see eye to eye on anything. Like I said at the beginning, what a mess!
Is there really a difference between the two candidates wanting to occupy this house for the next four years
And then we have the upcoming Presidential elections in America in about one month, as I write this article, another item of confusion and uncertainty. In January 2009 I wrote in Thy Kingdom Come an article wherein I pointed out that Manasseh had sold its birthright for a bowl of Communist-Edomite red pottage, when they had elected Obama as President. I also warned then that the new stranger over them had promised them, Manasseh, the moon, but that he would eventually take away everything they had. Sadly enough, most of what I predicted has come true. And now Joseph-Manasseh is faced with the same dilemma as four years ago. Do they re-elect the same person or do they select the challenger Romney? Will they bow to another four years of that which they have had or will they opt for a possibility of eight years of possible war with the Israeli state? Remember, Romney is a close personal friend of Bibi. So, we must ask ourselves, will he do his utmost to appease the Zionist state. Obama/Romney, is there even a lesser of two evils? “What a mess”.
Of course this mess and confusion is of man’s own making. For in almost all things we neglect to put God in the equation. We do most everything on our own and we repeatedly fail. But if we build our house upon a Rock (Matt. 7:24) we will not fail. For the Rock we should build on is Christ (1Cor. 10:4). For if we do all things with the Lord in mind we cannot fail. He has promised to lead and guide us through and by His Spirit, which was first poured out at Pentecost, and which Spirit still dwells with us today. All we have to do is listen to what it has to say to us at any given moment and act accordingly. If we only would do that we wouldn’t have to say “what a mess” but instead we would be able to say, what a wonderful blessing.
May the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob bless you and keep you in these confusing and trying times!
