Editor’s Comments: It is difficult to believe that ten years ago I became editor of this magazine. I’ve learned so much since that spring day in 2002 and yet, as I read through the pages of the Holy Scriptures, I realize that I know so very little. Yet, I am blessed to learn through articles and books from our archives and library, some penned by pretty impressive Bible scholars of the past and present. One thing I have realized is that the closer to this moment in time these scholars reach, the better their glimpse of what God has in mind for His People. Of course, I suppose this is simply the result of the passage of time creating new history, and revealing more truths of prophecy.
Still, some of these scholars have been blessed with a very keen insight of scripture and long before events took place, have forecast the result. Some of these scholars have also shown great courage in the defence of truth, I think of Pastor Alan Campbell of Northern Ireland, Pastor Dave Barley of America and the late MP from Northern Ireland, the Reverend Robert Bradford.
Michael Clark
Another dedicated soldier of Christ is Michael Clark, the current president of British-Israel-World Federation in the United Kingdom. He has been at the forefront of important campaigns in the past and has the courage to speak his mind. The reason I mention Michael is that he has just released a lengthy thesis entitled “Magna Carta, the British Constitution and the European Union.” It is just too long to be published in this magazine but we will make copies available to interested readers. Britain’s MPs have betrayed the people over four decades.

Ed. In reading the seemingly hopeless condition of Britain, I couldn’t help but reflect on Revelation 17 when John describes the terror of Mystery Babylon. But, then in Revelation 18:2 we learn of a strong voice saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen ….” And in 18:4 another voice saying, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” You only have to read Pastor Jory Brooks’ article “The Birthright of Israel” in April’s issue to know that Ephraim Britain has the Birthright and God will surely not leave them in servitude to the EU for any longer than He wishes. His very word tells us the release is not that far in the future.
From Vancouver: Dear Brooks, in your poem published in a recent issue, “Waiting at the Station” you seemed to say that the dead are waiting in the grave rather than being in heaven. Can you clarify?
Dear Vancouver: You know, I have been at many funerals and I think it is very soothing for the grieved to hear that their loved one is in Heaven with Jesus. And far be it from me to even suggest to them otherwise. But I think the first death simply suggests a period of sleep or rest in the grave. It’s like driving with a spouse from Toronto to Buffalo and being so tired you sleep and wake up in Buffalo, not remembering anything of the trip. I think this is why Daniel was told “But go thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.” (Daniel 12:13) Or why Job said, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God. Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold …” (Job 19:25-27) In 17:13, Job remarked, “If I wait, the grave is mine house…” There are so many other quotes I could refer but let’s look at two New Testament references to “sleep.” The first from Jesus when in John 11:11, He said, “Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4 is good proof of the sleep. Verse 13, “concerning them which are asleep”, particularly verses 14-16, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus …. That we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [precede] them which are asleep ….. and the dead [sleeping as Lazarus or resting like Daniel] in Christ shall rise first.”
