It’s the Time of the Evil Seed

“Remember, a seed that is sown first breaks through the ground very quickly, remains static until the root system is fully developed, then continues its rapid growth toward the budding, flowering and fruit bearing stages. An evil seed, like the long, slow march of the satanic plan, must follow the same course.”

The Apostle Paul describes the time of the end very concisely in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. “……Let no man deceive you by any means for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first.”

Daniel wrote (Daniel 12:1&4) “….and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation…  even to the time of the end”

John wrote (Revelation 3:14&17) “… And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write ….. and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”

To gain a proper understanding of the time frame, I encourage you to read my previous articles, “The Prophecy of Daniel 12” and “What Will You Do When The End Comes,” both of which are in past magazines or on our website. Copies are also available on request. You are also encouraged to review Chapters 3 & 4 of 1 Thessalonians, Chapters 1 & 2 of 2 Thessalonians, Daniel Chapter 12 and Revelation 3:14. As well, it is interesting to know that scholars such as John S. Fox pinpoint the beginning of the Laodicean period in the early 1800’s.

In any event, such a review will show why I establish the sowing time of the evil seed at approximately 1821 AD, or six lunar days from the fall of Adam. Of course, the changes from that time had to be gradual; the seed does not go from sowing to harvest overnight. And there was still an overlapping of the Laodicean period with the greatest of all church ages, that of the Church of Philadelphia, of which Christ said, “I know thy works: behold I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

But, change has taken place! The Israel nations were truly blessed by the time the early 1800’s arrived and it looked like greatness and prosperity would continue to flow. Our relationship with God Almighty was intact and while not everyone was following God’s ways, most were and Jesus Christ was the focus of the nations.
Paul said there would be a falling away. John wrote that the Laodicean period would be lukewarm and Jesus would therefore reject us. We can’t say we weren’t warned, God told us in Hosea 5:15 that He would return to His place until we acknowledge our offence. We didn’t, of course, and as the evil seed strengthened his grip on True Israel, the blessings began to slow and evil took over to the point where Isaiah’s prophecy (20:5) became a reality, “Evil will be seen as good and good evil.” Of course, Daniel’s prophecy (12:4) is very evident as well, in that knowledge (both good and evil) has accelerated to the point where great change is taking place almost daily.

So, let’s look at the unfolding of the seed of evil. If it was sown in the early 1800’s, perhaps 1821, the end of 6 lunar days (6,000 years –Ezekiel 4:6 “I have appointed thee a day for a year), it might look as follows:

In looking at the time frames, the solar equivalent of 6000 lunar and prophetic years, along with 6000 actual solar years, can be added to the date of the fall of Adam, projected by most Bible scholars as between 3,996 to 4,004 BC. Some convincing scholars seem to pinpoint 3,999/4001 BC. I am employing 4,000 BC for the purposes of this article and if out a year or so, it doesn’t make much difference. Yet, employing 4,000 BC does bring out some interesting events. We should understand that God utilizes three different methods in measuring a year. There is the “Lunar Year”, the Prophetic Year and the Solar Year. The Lunar year is roughly 354.367 days long, the Prophetic 360 days and a Solar year 365.2425 days. Those who read my article “The Prophecy of the Lord’s Great Week” will recall that God’s Plan covers seven days of 1000 years, comprising six days  (6,000 years) of labour and one day (1,000 years) of rest (the Millennial Kingdom).

So, if I added 6,000 prophetic years to the 4,000 BC, we would arrive at 1914, the beginning operations of the Federal Reserve and the onset of World War 1. Adding 6,000 solar years, we arrive at 2001, which, of course, highlighted 911. I believe sometime around 1914 was the beginning of the flowering stage of the evil seed and somewhere around 2001 was the fruit bearing stage. Certainly since 2001, freedoms, Christian values and prosperity have been under progressive retreat.

The great question is “Did the Esau Dominion commence in 1821, did it start out slow, picking up steam from 1914 on and reaching a point in 2001 where it can only be stopped by Jesus Christ Himself. Interestingly, we are now nine years into the final stages of the Evil Seed’s rule (nine years from 2001 – nine meaning finality) and one has to contemplate whether the next year, 2011, (ten meaning “testimony”) is the year when True Israel, in their affliction, will seek the Lord. Or, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 puts it, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Will then, in 2012 (eleven meaning “judgment”), will the Lord move against the tares, so that in 2013 (twelve meaning Governmental perfection) the Kingdom under Christ will usher in peace and safety. Who knows, but these are interesting dates. One thing is certain, events in the world, financial and otherwise, seem headed in the direction of disaster.

Esau, promised the Dominion by Isaac (Genesis 27:40), is, according to the prophet Esdras, said to be the end of the age, with Jacob as the beginning and every sign and every fulfilled prophecy points to the removal of Esau’s dominion. As the prophet Ezekiel recorded God’s words in 34:27, “… [They—Esau] shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.” The prophet Jeremiah in Lamentations 4:21 talks about how Edom [Esau] will be drunken [with power] and expose themselves [as to who they are].  Jeremiah also confirms God’s promise to Isaiah (Isaiah 46:13)  “I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory,” when, again in Lamentations (4:21) it is recorded that the punishment for Israel is complete and she will be rescued. But, in speaking to Esau, God says He will visit her iniquities. This fits with what He said to Isaiah (47:3) “Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance.”

You know, despite what Esau has done to true Israel, many believe God should go easy on them but this is not our business. Actually, apart from God’s indictment of Esau in Lamentations 4:21, God went into great detail why Esau was to be ultimately destroyed in the Book of Obadiah. Yes, as some Christians point out, there are some of Esau who could be saved through the Blood of Christ but only if God the Father so directs. (John 6:65)

Like any Judge, God will weigh the evidence and as he said to Belshazzar he might say to Esau, “Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting?

Imagine all the Esauites in front of the Great Judge as He pronounced the indictment and verdict. As you reflect on God’s indictment, dwell on today’s scenario and the impact it has had on our nations. Think of the attack on our faith, the transfer of our wealth, the millions of destitute amongst our brethren, the loss and maiming of our young people through wars and so on.

Let me paraphrase Obadiah’s writing wherein God basically said:

“Esau, You have regarded yourself as superior, even though I made thee small. Your pride of heart has deceived you, you thought yourself strong. Where once it was your mountain fortress of Mount Seir that gave you false comfort, now it is my people Israel, over whom you have taken dominion, that gives you your feeling of strength and superiority.

Your control of my people is so complete it is like an eagle’s nest amongst the very stars and you think that no one can penetrate your defences. But, I will pull you down.

And what a downfall it shall be! You know, Esau, if thieves came to your house, as you came to the House of Israel, would they have stolen more than they required. If gatherers of grapes came to you, as you came to the House of Israel, would they not have left at least some for you? Now your stronghold will collapse and all your possessions shall be taken from you. It is the end of your power. Your friends will betray you and turn you over to this very court.

And now I indict you. Though Jacob had grievously wronged you, your ancestral father Esau had forgiven him. But now there is violence instead of forgiveness. And so, for your rage against your brother Jacob, you are to be disgraced, and destroyed.

Many centuries ago, don’t you remember things I said, like “Never gloat over your brother Jacob’s distress, or rejoice over it, or laugh at their helplessness, loot their goods or enter into their gates at time of their calamity.” Don’t you remember this, Esau?”

Now, it is too late for you. The day of the Lord is near upon all the nations, and as you have done, it shall be done to you.”

As we would say in many quarters today, “It is time for Esau to pay the piper.” I suppose most of us can correctly look at today’s landscape and recognize Esau because they identify themselves as such or because of their actions. Yet, some are hidden away. We must heed the words of the parable of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13:29), “Nay: lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.” So, what we know we see may only represent a partial identification? Remember, a mark of Esau is his cunningness, which, along with his great intelligence and knowledge of conspiratorial plans dating back thirty-eight centuries ago, probably saw him infiltrate every aspect of our society generations upon generations ago. Today, they could be in any religion, indeed, perhaps some are pretend Christians or let’s face it, pretend theologians. Of course, Esau surely has his puppets, for example, bought and paid for, true Israelites. We can’t help but think of this when we hear some televangelists or church theologians preach. It shouldn’t be surprising because turncoats have been a part of history. Still, as the prophet Isaiah wrote (13:9,15) collaborators will meet the same fate as Esau. But, the die is cast, and now that our six days of labour have given away to the seventh day, the rest is up to the Lord. We simply have to have faith in God’s Word and know that the fall of Esau, his collaborators and the unscrupulous rich is the reward of the end of the six days of labour and will herald the greatest event of all, the ushering in of the Millennial Kingdom.

Nothing more needs to be said. We are at that point where all eyes should be watching for His Return.

Whether soon, as most of us hope, or later, we can be sure it will happen. These verses from Esdras 2: 3,4 should give us all the assurance we need.

“By measure hath he measured the times
And by number hath he numbered the times
And he will not move or stir them
Until such measures have been fulfilled”

Editor: Professor Edward Faraday Odlum spoke to the 1928 B.I.W.F. Congress in London, England and had this to say about Esau, “The question involves the idea of the covenant. The statement is made here, “In Isaac shall thy seed be called.” “In Isaac shall thy seed be named.”— That is right. Those of you who are Hebrew scholars will find most assuredly that the conviction will grow that it means “name”; called in that sense. This is important, taking every word in the Hebrew Bible bearing upon that matter, and I affirm it as my deepest conviction that it means, “In Isaac shall the descendants of Abraham, through Isaac, be named.” Now as to the covenant side. The seed of Abraham entered into a covenant, because God Himself made a covenant with Abraham and his seed; and if you will look carefully, say, at Ishmael, and the promise made to Ishmael, you will see that in addition to what might be called the general covenant made with Abraham, Ishmael had a special covenant. Now then, take the Esau side. He, because of being a son of Abraham through Isaac, has been under covenant down through the ages. But he was a rebellious son, a rebellious man, and his nation was a rebellious nation; and, notwithstanding he was a son of Abraham, through Isaac, he put himself largely outside of the covenants. But Esau had a nation, Edom, and from Edom came the Edomites. Herod was one of them and when he heard that there had been born one King of the Jews, and that there might be no King over Judah in Jerusalem he decided to have all the baby boys killed. You can easily see now what came into the mind of that man, carrying the spirit of his ancestors. [Ed: Yet, the promise of the Dominion did, in fact, come to pass]
