Things that are Shaken
“(For that could not endure that which was commanded, AND IF SO MUCH AS A BEAST TOUCH THE MOUNTAIN, IT SHALL BE STONED, OR THRUST THROUGH WITH A DART: And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I EXCEEDINGLY FEAR and quake:) But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the first-born, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying YET ONCE MORE I SHAKE NOT THE EARTH ONLY, BUT ALSO HEAVEN. And this word, Yet ONCE MORE, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”(Heb. 12:20-27).
A few weeks ago while speaking with Pastor Alan Campbell he mentioned that there was a verse in Hebrews that said “that all things that can be shaken will be shaken” and this seems to be what is happening today. I have been thinking about this ever since he mentioned it. Our continued disobedience is leading us down the road to destruction. We do not believe God anymore and do not believe in His ability to protect us. We think we must do it on our own. If we do not heed God’s warning from Heaven to trust and obey Him then we are in danger of experiencing His wrath just as the Israelites did at Mt. Sinai when they did not listen and did not obey Him. God is going to remove those things from the earth that can by shaken (man made) and only leave those things which cannot be shaken (from God). We must hold fast to God’s Word and not be troubled by these things. “That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.” (2Thess. 2:2).
Recently the G20/G8 groups met in Toronto, Ontario Canada. The meeting of these groups reminded me of the Tower of Babel and I thought that it was very interesting that just as the world leaders were arriving there was a 5.0 magnitude earthquake near the Ontario/Quebec border which was felt in Toronto. It is very unusual to have an earthquake in this area, although they do happen. Was God showing His displeasure at these meetings? The end of June saw the ousting of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and the installation of new Prime Minister Julia Gillard. This came without an apparent objection from anyone. This installation of a new Prime Minister in this way is without precedent in Australia politics. It appears to be very suspicious! Earthquakes are shaking up the world everywhere, many with a magnitude of 6.0 and above. These are big earthquakes. North and South Korea are continuing to have disputes and who knows where this will lead. News headlines say Pakistan suicide blast kills more than 100, Afghan raids kill five US soldiers. There are problems between Israel and Gaza, Israel and Iran, and a suicide bomber kills 5 in Iraq. The former Soviet Republic countries are continually in the news and we need to watch what is happening there. Another headline says Turkish troops clash with Kurdish rebels. “For nation (or ethnic group) shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers (various) places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matt. 24:7-8).
The economy is on shaky ground. No matter what they say about job growth, etc. there are big problems with the economy and this will have a huge impact on the future of the nations. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is still ongoing and having a major impact on that region and could eventually affect much of the world. Human trafficking is on the increase and a person is sold for whatever money they can bring in.
The world is in a terrible state and there is so much uncertainty. The world system is being shaken. “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity: and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
[inset side=”left” title=””]“And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity: and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.… [/inset]Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” (Isa. 13:11,13). These are all signs that the day of the Lord is near. He is returning soon and all of these wordly systems must be destroyed to make way for His Kingdom on earth. This is a Kingdom which cannot be shaken. “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” (Heb. 12:28-29). I believe the Lord is returning soon and those that think that they can avoid his wrath may do so for now, but God is shaking the earth and no one will escape.
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21: 25-28).
The whole of Psalm 18 is a wonderful chapter to read for these times but here are some wonderful verses for inspiration to stay the course and know that you are in the Lord’s protection. The Lord intervenes on our behalf. “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet…The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me, The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statues from me. I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.” (Psa. 18:6-9,13-21).
