Global Warming or Global Warning
Global warming or climate change is an expression that is bandied around a lot now-a- days. Every time we get some inclement or unusual weather that is the first thing one hears these days, and then they go on to say that we have to reduce our carbon footprint and lower the greenhouse gasses lest we destroy the environment and the Earth. Now I am not saying that we could not do a better job of husbandry on this planet, according to God’s command to take dominion, but none of the so-called experts have ever taken God, the Creator of this Earth, into consideration, for He claims the world as His own. “For the world is mine, and the fullness thereof.” (Psa. 50:12). “Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.” (Deut. 10:14). So, if God owns both Heaven and Earth, don’t you think that He is going to make sure that they will continue to function according to His plan? There is nothing that man can do to change God’s design.
Some thirty-five hundred years ago God made a Covenant, a contract if you will, with a people that He selected to be a servant nation unto Himself. The reason being that those people, namely the Israelites, would not only be richly blessed, but would also become a blessing to all the people of the earth. God told them that if they would diligently walk in His ways they would be blessed beyond imagination, but if they would not walk according to His will and commandments they would heap all sorts of curses and misfortunes upon themselves. Well, we all know what happened; they promised to do all that the Lord required, but they soon started to serve false gods and idols and became decadent beyond imagination, to the point where God finally ran out of patience with them, He divorced them and banished them from off their land whereupon they soon lost their identity and became lost even unto themselves.
But that was then, what about now? Some fifteen hundred years after the first contract something wonderful happened that showed that the Almighty God still loved His people that He had chosen for Himself. He, God, caused His Son to be born in Palestine, the original land promised to the Fathers, to be a Saviour and Redeemer to His people, who were by this time scattered from Palestine over Asia Minor, Greece, the Roman Empire all the way to the far reaches of faraway North Western Europe.
Christ came preaching with His main message the Gospel of God’s Kingdom on Earth and He brought with Him the New Covenant, that was ratified by the blood that He, Jesus the Christ, shed on the Cross of Calvary (Matt. 26:28; Mk. 14:24; Lk. 22:20). The first Covenant was based on adherence to laws, ordinances and animal sacrifices for remission of sin, whereas the New Covenant was and is based on the principles of love, love of God, the Father, love of Jesus Christ and of our neighbour. These in turn will generate a love and desire to do the will of God and keep His commandments. According to Christ’s teachings these are the two great commandments on which all the law and prophets hang. (Matt. 22:37-40; Mk. 12:30,31). After Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension, through the evangelizing work of the Apostles, this message of Salvation spread like wildfire in all of the then known world, from Palestine all the way to the British Isles and Northwest Europe. The message flourished until it became stagnated with the false teachings of the Romish Church, under which conditions it languished for about a thousand years, the Dark Ages, until it was revived by some devout men, who instigated the Great Reformation, after which this message of Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, again caught fire and became the driving force and desire in the lives and hearts of men. It was this desire that drove Western man to establish God fearing countries all over the globe during the great time of colonization. These new countries and settlements were blessed beyond imagination so long as their people walked hand in hand with their God and Saviour, but alas it was not to last.
Man has again become complacent in his walk and attitude toward God. Affluence and so called enlightenment has mankind thinking they can do all things by themselves. Humanistic philosophy makes man His own god, thus there is no need and/or desire to be obedient to the Living God. There are in our nations still a lot of people that claim Jesus Christ as their Saviour, but a good many of the churches they attend teach a watered down religion most of the time and in a lot of instances they preach fallacies that are totally outside the realm of what the Bible teaches. A lot of the churches teach that the law was done away with, and thus the people live in ignorant bliss of what is right or wrong and thus many a so called believer today only pays lip service to God because they are ignorant about the real issues contained in the Bible, but ignorance is no excuse, for the Word is there for all to read and study. But because of this ignorance many a Christian has in fact become idolatrous, lovers of self, wealth, sports and entertainment, reliant on government instead of relying on God. But God is not mocked!
In Rom. 12:19 it says “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” Furthermore, in Deut. 32:35 we read the following “To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time. For the day of their calamity is at hand, and the thing that shall come upon them make haste.” Space does not permit me to quote all of Deut. 32; but the reader should take the time to read the whole chapter for him/herself. It is the song of Moses and in it He warns us against apostasy and God’s judgement against it, very apt also for today. And now dear friends let’s take a look at what is happening in our Israel nations and on the whole earth in general.
We are being inundated by inclement weather all over the globe. There are floods and droughts; there is excessive heat in some regions and unusual cold in other places. There have been earthquakes, hurricanes and tornados of unheard velocity and frequency all throughout the land. Crops are failing or are greatly reduced, and once the surplus is used, shortages will occur in every land. God is at this time sending us a final warning, a message to repent and return unto Him. This is not global warming but instead it is a global warning. The four horsemen of the Apocalypse are out of the stable and the seven bowls of wrath are in the process of being poured out on the Earth, and unless we as a nation go collectively on our knees, and ask our Heavenly Father for forgiveness and mercy, things will only continue to get worse. Yes, as I quoted at the beginning of this article, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the Living God”. What is even more frightful is to fall into the hands of an angry God.
But in all of this there is hope, and that hope is called repentance, if we bow down to that, then God will hear from Heaven and not only forgive us our sins but He will also heal our lands. That is His promise and what God has promised will come to pass.
