Two Men
The story of the two men that built their houses has a personal application, but I believe it has a national application as well. The story is the one Jesus related about building your house on a rock or on the sand. One house would stand and the other one would fall.
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27. Churches will always apply a personal interpretation for the individual, but there is a national message in this story as well. A collection of people descended from one man are often called a house. There is the house of Israel (Exodus 16:31), the house of Judah (2 Samuel 2:10), the house of Joseph (Joshua 17:17), the house of David (1 Samuel 20:16), and other houses, such as the house of Esau (Obadiah 1:18). I believe the Lord was telling us, the house of Israel, to build our house on obedience to his words. Then when the storms come our house will stand.
For our generation, I believe the coming storm is from the Communist beast. Russia will join with China and various Islamic nations to come against Middle East nations, Asian nations, and the nations that used to be the Anglo-Saxon nations, such as the U.S.A. and Canada. Referring to the Communist beast, I believe the Bible says “Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.” Ezekiel 38:9. Yes, the storm is coming! I believe it will be here within four years. I am not making a prophecy, just interpreting what I see in the world and the Bible. The nations that are built on Christian foundations will stand. The nations built on non-Christian religions will fall.
Even though the Anglo-Saxon and kindred people have mostly lost their Christian convictions, I believe it is the prayers of our Christian ancestors as they prayed for our nations, and the promises made by God to our distant ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that will get us through this terrible time. The house of Israel will stand because our nations were built in past history upon Christianity and following the Bible. Unfortunately, we have been finishing the house with a roof of paper that will not last when the storm hits. We will be forced to return to the faith of our fathers and call on God in the name of Jesus. No other name will save us.
In Jesus’ parable of the two men, the one that built on the rock could be Jacob/Israel and the one that built on the sand could be Esau. Esau’s descendants depended on their own abilities and always rose in power and influence. Examples in the Bible are Doeg (1 Samuel 22:9), Haman (Esther 3:1), and Herod (Matthew 2:1). These men all hated God’s people and tried to kill them. When Israelites rose in power it was because they obeyed God. Their foundation was the Lord. “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” Psalm 62:1-2. A great judgement is coming on the nations of the world. I believe the influence of the house of Esau is almost over. God will do it. The house of Esau has built the great city Babylon to rule over the nations. The house of Israel is promised the great city New Jerusalem with twelve wonderful gates. The city of Babylon is known for worldly wealth, political corruption, and sexual sin. New Jerusalem will be known for righteousness, truth, and peace. I believe half the population of the house of Israel will call on the Lord when the storm breaks upon us. Jesus is our salvation.
