A Fallen World
In today’s world it is pretty much impossible to love the world and love Jesus at the same time. There is a spiritual warfare going on now and this evil spirit appears to be winning as the whole world seems caught up in this spirit of antichrist. It is reflected in the fact that we are so easily giving up all of the traditions and values that made our Israel lands peaceful and productive. There was a feeling of belonging and security in what we believed. That has gone today and chaos reigns. It feels to me like it must be like the time of Noah just before the flood, “And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.” (Gen. 6:10-12) The earth is filled with violence today. Nowhere is safe anymore it seems. We used to think violence was pretty much a thing that happened in big cities or in other countries, but this is no longer true. Violence can be found now even in places that have never seen it before, our peace is gone, and we live in a fallen world with what appears to be no hope.
God is looking down at this corrupted world and sees our despair, but we still do not acknowledge our manifold sins and do not repent of them. We are still too comfortable and love the things of the world more than the blessings of God when we obey Him. Unfortunately, we are so comfortable that we do not even seem to know how to fight. We have become weak and lazy because things have been so comfortable in our lands. We are a lost people. What will it take to bring us out of our stupor and back to Him? It appears that it will have to be when the things of the world that we appear to love so much turn against us so that we are not so comfortable. From what I can see we love money, travelling, nice homes, nice cars, power, etc. These are all superficial things of the world that can disappear at any time. World events are leading that way and the so called “comfortable life” that we are currently living now may soon be about to crumble. What will we do then? Have we been building up our treasure in Heaven? “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:” (Matt. 6:18-20). The words from our mouth speak of what is in our hearts and where our treasures are. “A good man out of the goodtreasurehis heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the eviltreasureof his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (Luke 6:45)
We can no longer trust politicians, corporations and people in power. I am sure there are good people there, but they are overpowered by the corrupt influences that permeate these groups. We have lost our ability to discern the times and the evil that surrounds us. Our only hope now is to turn back to God. We must try and bring people back to God and His love for us and the laws He has given us much to live by. I am slightly encouraged that I have seen some churches are having success in bringing younger people into their church. I think possibly that the young adult population does not see much hope for their future, and it is attracting them to God for direction and security. The Holy Spirit may be working here to bring them back to Him. My church has opened a new small church plant in my area to try and bring some of these lost people in. I went to the first service last week and walked in with a young man I met at the door who was new and wanted to come in. He seemed to enjoy it when I talked to him at the end of the service so hopefully, he will keep coming. Our people must wake up before it is too late for them. We cannot fix these problems ourselves; we must repent and ask God to help us. Many people are living in this “Fool’s Paradise” where they think everything will magically get better. This will not happen without God’s help. Jesus Christ is returning soon, and He will judge the nations and the people. Repent and turn to our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. Our treasures are not found in this fallen world. They are found in knowing God and preparing to live with Him for eternity. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things on earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.” (song Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus can be found on YouTube. It is beautiful).
“That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.” (Col. 2:2-4)
