Filter Tips
A recent article written by Jackie Edwards was entitled “What is Truth”, the question Pontius Pilate asked when he was confronted by the officers of the High Priest at Jesus’ trial. Despite Our Lord stating that He was “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6), this question apparently is still debated endlessly by thousands of so-called educated people without any solid resolution, with the result that Truth has been replaced by opinion. To such an extent that the legal requirement at trial may be “to tell our opinion, our whole opinion and nothing but our opinion”. You might care to call this art form ‘meghanopsis’. As only truth can unify what is observed, so opinion can only concretize division and rancour. When Jesus asked of His disciples who He was, Simon Peter answered “Thou art the Christ” (Matthew 16:16), to which Jesus replied that only His Father in heaven could have revealed this to him. Truth in its purest sense is revelation from on high, as opposed to opinion which is a two-dimensional process subject to error. And error, gross error is what today informs almost all of our world.
Now, most of what we receive as information is filtered through templates or algorithms erected by those who wish to control our thought processes. The result is that we no longer receive the pure white light from above, but a rainbow of various colours, and we are encouraged to believe that this is an advancement. We read in Psalm 91, “Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked”, and in an extension of this, only those who are immune from these filters are able to distinguish between truth and illusion.
We must, therefore, consider how we may obtain the ability to see things as they are and not as they seem, remembering that the father of lies is none other than the devil himself. This of course answers the question, for it is an understanding and love of Our Lord Jesus Christ which protects us against falsehood, and we are told by Jesus “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15), which are so straightforward when compared with the labyrinthine laws that man has constructed. A right understanding of the world can only flow from obedience to God’s Laws; the rebellious will never know truth.
You can see, can you not, how the enemies of truth sought to render mankind incapable of assessing the God created world in which he dwells. The devil and all his works had to incite mankind, and especially the Adamic Race (please understand the other races pre-existed Adam and were NOT all destroyed by the Flood), to sin against the basic precept of marriage, which is between one man and one woman, and that this is the only sanctified and protected arrangement in which the sexual union was allowed and not forbidden. This edict was not for man’s curtailment but to enable him to be true to himself, immune from deception, and to provide security for progeny. By breaking with this safeguard the modern world has descended into chaos, perversion and oppression that it would seem that there is no way back. A whole industry, employing tens of millions is now in place in order to attempt to cope with the disastrous consequences so created.
In Matthew 24 we are told we will hear of wars and rumours of wars in the end times. Now sexual immorality and warfare are closely related; you might even say that they are two sides of the same coin or equation, for one passion excites the other and vice versa.
When men say that they cannot perceive the truth of anything, this is most likely because they are the slave of their own passions. Of such turn away, for they, being unable to see the truth, wish ferociously that you should be as confused as they are. How often have we heard of one who wishes to save the world before he has saved himself? This only leads to insanity and madness. Proverbs 7:32 states that “whosoever committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding, for he destroyeth his own soul.
In case there is any doubt as to the prime motivation for encouraging what might loosely be called the permissive society, now in place for about 60 years, let us examine the quotation below taken from the booklet published in 1972 – “The Annihilation of Man” by Kenneth McKilliam, educated at the University of Queensland and London University where he obtained an honours degree in Psychology and Sociology. It reads as follows:-
“Lenin wrote that the idea of Socialism sprang not so much from the distress of manual workers as from the moral distress of mental workers. The people who flock to Socialism are activated by personal ambition rather than by love of their fellow men. They are people who feel that the self-discipline imposed by a God directed society is an intolerable burden frustrating the free expression of their sensual desires.” That is it in a nutshell.
Shut out the ever-present alluring messages of this decadent electronic world which scramble the brains of the listeners. Let me close with Proverbs 8:32-36, “Now, therefore, hearken unto me, O ye children, For blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors -For whosoever findeth me findeth life and shall obtain favour from the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All that hate me love death.”
Amen
