Our Beloved Queen Elizabeth II Is Gone
At the time of writing this, our beloved Queen Elizabeth II has just passed away, on September 8, 2022. It will now be a time of great mourning for all those who loved her and admired her. She had a great sense of duty and loved the Lord God with all her heart. At one point in the Coronation ceremony on June 2, 1953 she removes her regal attire and is left with a simple white dress for the anointing. She is humbling herself before God. This sacred part of the Coronation was hidden from view with a canopy. At this anointing when the oil is being poured on her she is being set apart to serve and to do His will. Apparently, it had a profound effect on her. It is such a great loss to have her gone but could it be that God will use this time of sorrow and grief at the loss of their beloved Queen to stir the hearts of the British and Commonwealth people, plus many throughout the world, to return to their God.
I have just been having some thoughts on this matter during my sadness and was thinking that could this time during the funeral and the changes that will be required in the Royal Family start a renewal of faith in the people. Our hearts are broken and who better to comfort us than the Lord. I believe she would want that. There is always a length of time between the death of a monarch and the Coronation of the new one. Charles is now the new King, but we don’t know when the Coronation will take place. We assume there will be one but Charles may have different ideas, ones expressed in the past. I don’t know, but it appears to me that during the time of grieving and change we are heading closer to the Coronation of King Jesus. Could He be the next one to be at the Coronation?
There is still a long road ahead after this great shock. Most of us have lived our lives only knowing Queen Elizabeth as our monarch. I’m waiting on God now to see what He is planning. Britain has a new Prime Minister who is also an Elizabeth and who was welcomed by Queen Elizabeth, but they now will also have a new monarch. This is a lot of change in a short time and PM Liz Truss will not have the wise counsel of Queen Elizabeth to guide her.
It was interesting that just before the announcement of Queen Elizabeth’s death, but possibly just as she passed away, a double rainbow appeared over Buckingham Palace. Is God reminding His people of the Covenant He made with them? Is He reminding them of the great monarch who loved God with all her heart and soul and was a great Servant Queen. Could He be working in His people calling them to come back to Him and reminding them of the Covenant He made with them?
“And God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.” (Gen. 9:12-17)
