The Earth Shall Wax Old Like A Garment

First of all, we were told that our world was experiencing Global Warming, but after a big meeting in Copenhagen (concerning Global Warming), about 8 0r 9 years ago, concluded with extremely cold weather, the mantra changed to Climate Change. But now you will notice we have yet another title; Climate Emergency…

Our world leaders are all now running around hither and thither, trying to appear to be doing something about it, convinced that, among other things, halting Carbon emissions is the sure way to put everything right. Yes, our leaders, who know it all, are going to save us all!

But alas I don’t think so! Firstly, they know nothing, for they know not God, and secondly Carbon is an essential part of life itself. Plants could not transform sunlight into energy – an action called photosynthesis – without carbon dioxide. And no plants would mean no oxygen – or food – and as such all life would perish. So, being Carbon neutral is a no-starter, and in fact the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is very small. (Compared to other constituents of the atmosphere).

That we are responsible for the apparent disharmony of nature, is only partially correct. Over thousands of years, we have certainly contributed to the poor condition of the soil – which is the kingpin of growing healthy plants, and producing healthy animals and humans – by not adhering to God’s Laws, in particular the seven year rest, where the land should lie fallow. And in fact, by disregarding all of God’s Laws, our carelessness towards the earth, pollution, plastics etc., etc, is a mighty big factor. However, Climate Change was never a valid phrase, for the earth’s climate has always been changing – one of the biggest, most catastrophic being that at the time of Noah’s flood.

There is of course the worthy claim that had the people of Noah’s time not gone their own way and turned from God, the flood may not have occurred. But we shall never know.

Nevertheless, what we can be sure of, is that we are heading towards a new and very big Climate Change. The reason we can indeed be sure, is that it is spoken of in our Bibles – both Old and New Testament, and Apocrypha. And to put the ‘icing on the cake’, so to speak, Our Lord Himself even mentioned it too. So, there is no doubt at all, but that something extremely big is going to take place!

“Look up to the skies above, look down upon the earth: for the skies like smoke shall vanish, and earth wear out like a robe, the world itself shall crumble and its dwellers die like gnats. But My deliverance endures for ever, My triumph knows no end.” So, tells us the prophet Isaiah in chapter 51:6.

And Esdras in his second book in the Apocrypha, which makes very interesting reading, says in chapter 6:18-20; “And it said, Behold, the days come, that I will begin to draw nigh, and to visit them that dwell upon the earth. And will begin to make inquisition of them, what they be that have hurt unjustly with their unrighteousness, and when the affliction of Sion shall be fulfilled; And when the world, that shall begin to vanish away, shall be finished, then will I shew these tokens: the books shall be opened before the firmament, and they shall see all together.”

So, with all this in mind, we can rest assure that the future of our world itself, is completely in the hands of He who created it. We ourselves can neither destroy it, nor renew it!

We need also consider that we are living in a fallen world! Since the first sin, committed by Adam and Eve, when they were cast out of Eden, the world itself was cursed for our sakes – so we, as fallen beings – could live within it. For remember, at the creation everything was made perfect.

Thus, it could be stated that the dimensions in which we live, which stretch out from the earth to form the galaxy, are likewise in a fallen or imperfect state.

We truly live in a world of death and destruction – where all things decay. This is the state of a fallen existence. But we are promised that this will change, and the future will see the earth renewed, and not just the earth, for we are promised new heavens and a new earth! But before this takes place there will be birth pangs – pain, shakings – perhaps this is symbolised in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions being mightily increased. I believe that before some tremendous or amazing event takes place, there is always a kind of aura effect radiating out from it both before and afterwards. Rather like when you throw a pebble into a pool of water, and the ripples flow out from the point of impact. Thus, not only the earth and the heavens themselves, but all life will feel these effects; “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body”. (Romans 8:22-23)

And not only that, but for a new perfect existence to come to the fore, that which caused the imperfect to manifest in the first place, must be weeded out, and removed – totally! – that of sin… and evil.

Ominously, we read in 2 Esdras 7:1; “And he answered me saying. The Most High hath made this world for many, but the world to come for few.” However, for those who love the Lord and His Laws we read in chapter 8 that, happily; “For unto you is paradise opened, the tree of Life is planted, the time to come is prepared, plenteousness is made ready, a city is builded, and rest is allowed, yea, perfect goodness and wisdom.” We cannot know the time of these tremendous happenings, but we can trust that they are all hand in hand with the return of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and that the timing will be utterly exact and precise in the hands of Our Lord; for; “By measure hath He measured the times, and by number hath He numbered the times; and He doth not move nor stir them, until the said measure be filled.” (2 Esdras 4:37)

So, fear not talk of a Climate Emergency, or anything else – for EVERYTHING is in the LORD’S HANDS! Amen to That.
