God Is In Control

The world today is in turmoil, and one could easily get upset about it all and become unsettled. But amidst all the turmoil, bring the reader good news! God is in control, and He is working all things together for good. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Dear reader, do you believe it? Do you believe that God is in control? Has He indeed decreed what has been and what will be by His mighty power? Is He truly governing the affairs of men? Is He doing so according to His own purpose? Is He, even now, in all of this trouble, working out His plan?

I know the knee jerk reaction to these questions is to say, “Yes, of course God is in control,” because to say anything else would make us look ridiculous. But do we believe it? Do we really believe it? I dare say that we do not! Or, if we do believe it, we often forget that we believe it. Because if we really believed it, we would never worry about anything, no matter how terrible, and life would be much happier for us.

So, I ask the reader again, do you really believe that God is in control? Please pause for reflection because your answer is very important and will determine how well you navigate days ahead.

As you reflect, please consider the following passages from the Bible.“I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.” Isaiah 45:6-7

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” Isaiah 46:9-10

Think of that! Declaring the end from the beginning! I will do all my pleasure!

The psalmist declared, “For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.” Psalms 135:5-6. Our great God is absolutely in control, and He directs the steps of every man. “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

There is nothing that man can do but that which God has ordained from the beginning. So, if you think the tyrants of the world can derail or alter His purpose, or in any way cause God’s plan to fail, think again! God has the heart of each and every one of them in His hand, just as it was with Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh and every other world leader throughout history. “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” Psalms 75:6-7

God is above all, and He controls the world scene and all world leaders today. There is nothing they can do but that which He has ordained. And since we know that God is working all things together for good for those who are His called, what have we to fear?

If God be for us, who can be against us? He would not take us this far just to abandon us! Hold on, dear reader! It may be a rough ride, but no matter what happens and no matter what evil men do, God has everything under control. Everything will be alright in the end.

We have His Word. Trust Him.
