Shaking of The Nation
We are living in a time of great upheaval in our lands. It appears that God is shaking us up out of our slumber. He is behind all that is happening. It is like the birth pangs that happen before the wonderful birth of a newborn baby, they increase in frequency and intensity until the birth. We are experiencing the same in world events before the wonderful coming of our Lord and His rule and reign in His Kingdom here on earth. “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” as it says in the Lord’s prayer. When we remember that God has His plan in place and is working it through with the nations, so we can rest in confidence knowing all is as it should be.
It may be a very rocky and turbulent time for us, but as we see these things happening we know that in the end God’s plan will prevail. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” (Psa. 2:1-9) He will not let His people be destroyed, only His enemies. We must remember too that God works with the nations and our Israel nations must awaken to who they are and come back to the Lord. It appears, unfortunately, that we will have to go through a storm similar to what Paul encountered in the ship on his way to Rome.
We must realize that we are sinking and all the foundations that kept us safe and secure are dwindling and we are being destroyed.
It seems that we will have to lose confidence in all the man-made plans and realize that our only alternative is to call on God to save us. It is sad that it has to be this way as many will suffer in this process, but we are a stiff-necked people and God has to humble us. The world is becoming a very scary place and with technology, corporations and governments taking over more and more of our control, we must focus on God, He will not let us sink.
The darker it gets the more the light of God will shine through as He works with His people. There already does seem to be an awakening starting in our lands and we must encourage those who are searching to find their way to Jesus. He is our safety in the storm. The rest of this year could bring many upheavals, but God could also reveal Himself in many ways. Some are saying something big could happen in November. Something unexpected could happen. That is often the way God works. In this time of preparing ourselves to do God’s work and making ourselves ready for His return we must be wise, cautious, humble ourselves and we must pray continually. Put our trust in Him not in the world. “Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” (Psa. 2:10-12) It is a time to be watchful of what is happening in the heavens and on the earth.
God is drawing us to Him and these things are meant to tell us to be ready and not lose hope. We are to be as the wise virgins who had their lamps full and they were ready. We are to fill ourselves more and more with the power of the Holy Spirit and listen for His direction. We must be prepared to warn people and to speak of these things as they will be searching for truth and comfort. We must not be afraid but be vigilant, staying awake and being alert as to what is happening. Do not be deceived! These are troublesome times, but we are told that there will be signs and we are to watch for them and realize the times that we are in. They are the time of Jacob’s Trouble just before the return of Christ.
His Spirit is pouring out to all those who hear His voice and follow Him. We are truly blessed. One of my favourite psalms is, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” (Psa. 46)
