Another View on Hooks Into Jaws

A few years ago, when living in Cornwall, our neighbour, having taken his dog for a run by the sea, told us how he witnessed a man with a small child, waving a stick about in a bush with an adder (snake) underneath – thinking it was an amusing thing to do.

This sort of behaviour is nothing short of foolishness, and should the adder have darted out and bitten the man, or worse still, the little child, then the blame would be solely the fault of the foolish man. Today we see similar actions taking place, but in a far greater, and much more dangerous situation. We are witnessing the U.S. and some of its allies poking a stick at the Russian Bear, and if they continue, they may find this Bear suddenly biting back!

The days we are now living in are evil beyond measure. As we in Britain prepared to vote on whether to stay or leave the EU back in 2016, we were bombarded with propaganda via government and media – and even the then President of the US, Mr Barack Obama – telling us that we have to vote to stay, or something terrible would happen to us. All who said they wished to leave were derided and called fascists and little Englanders and other unsavoury names. With President Donald Trump it was even more sinister, and any Trump supporter is even now made out to be an anathema to society. The same applies to those of us who do not wish to be vaccinated…….!

And now we are seeing Russia being branded a monster and on the verge of invading another country. This has actually been going on for a couple of years, and as in all these things we need to look behind the scenes to try and find out what is really going on.

Firstly, the Crimea has been a part of Russia for most of the last 300 years. It became part of Ukraine only because of an internal Soviet rearrangement back in 1954 by the then Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. It was in fact transferred from the Russian Soviet Federation of Socialist Republics (RSFSR) to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UKRSSR), then a purely internal move.

In 2014 the democratically elected government, led by Mr Yanukovic, was violently overthrown by Nazi style elements in Kiev. What became known as the maidan riots saw mass insurrection, and the deaths of many police officers. This coup was orchestrated by the US and EU, who both sent senior politicians to the area many times to whip up dissent. Kiev forces then attacked large areas in the East causing massive destruction of thousands of homes, resulting in an exodus of citizens to the nearest Russian city, Rostov. It is those criminals of Kiev that we are being asked to support by our deranged government.

There has, and continues to be, a concerted effort by the West to encircle Russia on her western borders, which would severely compromise her natural, political, geographical and ethnic superiority in the region. Geo-politically speaking, Ukraine and the Black Sea are ‘Russia’s soft underbelly’. In the hands of the West these areas would be an easy launching pad for US and NATO strikes against Russia’s largest cities and defence installations – and an easy entry gate for a military invasion from the western border.

The Russian Navy is based in the Crimea, on the Black Sea. Surely anyone with any sense would understand why Russia feels threatened. And for its part Russia has kept its side of an agreement – and were assured at the time of the dissolution of the Soviet Empire they would be left alone with Ukraine, Moldova etc, if they did not interfere in the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Proof of this is that the latter three are now part of the EU. And as for the ‘Red Lines’ mentioned by President Putin, these were laid down in the Charter of the United Nations and became the actual rules of the World Order that was set up in 1945, but the US and allies have been ignoring these rules to suit their own agenda, (perhaps the New World Order!). Indeed, US-NATO manoeuvres in the Black Sea in July 2021 were aimed at provoking Russia.

Now many BI believers see Russia as the enemy, and indeed there has been much written concerning the ‘Russian Chapters of Ezekiel’. But it does not do to have pre-conceived ideas that can cloud the issue in any given situation. Our current western leaders are themselves acting like communist dictators and we are all aware that many of our God given freedoms have been removed. Thus we must never, ever condone something evil, even if it is our own governments that are responsible!

The West is goading Russia – and thankfully, so far, President Putin has not taken the bait. If he was to do so, firstly it would be our fault for deliberate incitement, and secondly it could culminate in a third World War causing death and destruction to many. (Indeed, one wonders if part of this goading is to get back at Russia for supporting Syria)

In Ezekiel 38 and 39, we read of God putting hooks into the Jaws of Gog, and bringing him forth. Now the first point is that it is Almighty God who will do the drawing forth; and remember, Satan knows the words of the Bible just as much as we do. For all we know, he could be trying to cause things to happen before God’s time. And that is supposing that Gog and Magog are indeed Russia. They may well be, and I am not trying to say otherwise, but in reading Ezekiel’s two relevant chapters there is a lot that is not clear, and reading the Moffat version as well as our own King James Authorised version, we see slightly different interpretations.

There is also Revelation 20 verses 7 and 8 where we read; “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea…”

We need then to ask ourselves, is Ezekiel’s version the same prediction as that in Revelation, or are these referring to two battles at different times? And we also must realise that not all battles are mentioned in the Bible. We are told there will be wars and rumours of wars which can include many. The first and second world wars are not specifically mentioned in the Bible either, but they happened!

So, in conclusion, we do have a very dangerous situation between Russia and America. The way Russia is being goaded by the West is such that it could suddenly decide enough is enough! War could ensue and with a legitimate claim that we had indeed ‘put hooks in their jaws’. However, with Almighty God, everything runs to a certain pattern – He brings events, peoples and actions to the fore at His own timing and – just as with our Lord Jesus Christ, when He preached in the Temple could not be touched by the Scribes and Pharisees who sought to kill him, until ‘their’ time came – so also the same applies to anything God has decreed or promised in His Holy Book.

As with all things we await His timing – and know this; that those who are truly evil, whether of another land, or of our own land – will get their comeuppance!
