Yield Yourselves Unto The Lord

Here God’s people are instructed to yield themselves unto Him. They had forsaken Him during the reign of Ahaz, so much so that the House of God had fallen into disrepair and their sin had made them a people in bondage. But good Hezekiah was now king, and he exhorted the people to turn back to God.

Yield yourselves unto the LORD.

To yield is to give way in favor of another, to submit, to surrender. This is the life of a Christian: a life of surrender and submission to God and to His Holy Word.

Our LORD asks no less of us than our all. He is a jealous God and wants our full attention. He does not want us to stray away from Him for even a minute. Like any husband, He expects His bride to be attentive and faithful to Him. After all that He has done for us, it is only right that we should yield unto Him in all things. But we have not.

Enter into His sanctuary.

One of the most tragic things that happened last year was that many of God’s people actually stopped going to church. Like in the days of Ahaz, it was largely due to wicked leadership. Many of our leaders mandated that churches close and, to their shame, many churches — practically all — complied.

We are exhorted in the Scriptures not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but rather to get together regularly and build each other up in the LORD; especially as we see the Day approaching.

Dear reader, let us not be numbered among those who forsake God’s House. Let us yield unto the LORD in all things. Let us be faithful to attend church. Let us serve Him with our whole heart. Let us be steadfast, loyal and true to Him, that the fierceness of His wrath may be turned away from us. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” James 4:7-8
