The Dominion of Fear

There are multitudes living in fear today in our society. We are experiencing the last gasps of the rule of the Adam man which is the same as the rule of Edom man. Coming soon is the rule of God in the person of Jesus Christ and the age of blessing by the Lord and the true Israel of God. “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.” Isaiah 54:13-14. However, we are still under the dominion of Edom.

There are many people living in fear today. Jewish people live in fear because of what happened in the holocaust. Therefore, they oppose anyone who speaks out against the Jews for fear it may escalate into another Nazi purge. Muslims are living in fear because of the mass shootings in mosques in Canada and New Zealand by men who hate Muslims. Homo sexual people live in fear because of serial killers who targeted homo sexual men. The CBC recently had a documentary about one such murderer, and the description of what he did to people was horrifying. Teenage girls live in fear of what other young people might put on social media sites about them. Sometimes the lies told about them on the internet drive those girls to suicide. Many people are afraid to put anything on social media about what they believe because their employers might deem their post to be politically incorrect and fire them. Some people are even afraid to put up a sign on their lawn in support of a certain political candidate, because someone might throw a stone or a brick at their window. Finally, I don’t need to remind you of the fear generated by the COVID-19 virus. Many people are afraid of getting sick and many more are afraid of bankruptcy due to job loss. Multitudes are living in fear as the dominion of Edom continues. The dominion of Edom is a dominion of fear. The fear began with Nimrod in the Bible and continues to this day. It is the rule of man without God, also called Babylon.

In this atmosphere of fear many people accuse Christians of being dangerous. They believe that violence could erupt from within Bible believing congregations. In the Bible the Israelites were told by Moses to put practicing homosexuals to death (Leviticus 20:13). He also told them they could make slaves of the people from the surrounding heathen nations (Leviticus 25:44). Many people believe the Bible promotes bigotry and hatred. However, Jesus made it clear that we are to apply the law with Christian wisdom and compassion. He did not sentence the woman taken in adultery to death. The accusers were wicked men who did not bring the guilty man for judgement, only the woman. Also, they knew that if Jesus had pronounced death on her he would have been arrested by the Romans because only the Roman authorities could sentence anyone to death (John 18:31). I have heard many Christians calling for the death penalty for murder, but in our court system many men have been convicted of murder based on circumstantial evidence. Innocent men have been sent to prison or executed in the past. There is no simple solution for how to apply God’s laws in our society but we are so far from God’s moral laws that we would have to start with a few basic principles, like keeping Sunday free of non-essential work and removing pornography from the internet, television, and magazines. The Lord will have a huge cleanup job to do when he takes over the governments of the world.

“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.” Luke 12:4-5. Most people do not fear God. The fear of God would drive them to their knees in repentance, but they fear other things that do not have any eternal consequences. People must get their thinking straight and stop fearing what the dominion of Edom man can do to them. His rule is only for a brief moment in eternity.
