There Is A Whole Lot of Shaking Goin On
“For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:…And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day….And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. ”(Isa. 2:12,17,19).
As I am writing this article this year, 2019 is rapidly coming to a close. It has been a year of turmoil and uncertainty and frustration in the political arena, both here in North America but also across the pond in Great Britain. Let us look at Britain first. For years the will and desire of the British people has been ignored by self-serving politicians thwarting the efforts of several governments to implement the Brexit deal. After much pressure from the opposition, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced to call an early election, which as it turns out to be, was and is a total disaster for the nay-sayers and has given Mr. Johnson’s Conservatives a landslide victory and a majority government, with which they can now proceed to finalize that much desired deliverance from the bondage that is the E.U. God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. A lot of prayers have been uttered on behalf of this issue and the Lord is answering. He, the Lord, says in His Word, “And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” (Isa. 65:24). We serve an awesome God, who is always ready and willing to step into the breach and come to the aid of His people, all we have to do is but ask.
Now, on the other hand, here in North America, particularly in the U.S., the pony-show that is the Democrat led Congress is finally coming to an end. Just last week they voted on the impeachment process, after many, many delays and debates because there was no solid backing even in their own ranks. The ones in the forefront of the proceedings of this issue were Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler and each time I either heard or read about them, or saw them on television, I could not help myself but compare them to the three characters named in Rev. 20, namely the dragon, the beast and the false prophet. President Donald J. Trump has been ostracized by these people since his inauguration, he has been maligned and slandered repeatedly and he has been thwarted time and again to implement legislation in order to fulfill the campaign promises on which merits he was elected. Now I am not saying that the man has no faults, but then no one is perfect, but in spite of all the opposition, this president has accomplished more than his predecessors! The U.S. economy is robust, more people are working, especially black Americans and minorities and manufacturing is being revived in the U.S.; yet despite all this they, the Democrats, want to impeach this man. A former president and his wife, the one that lost in 2016, virtually got away with murder, but Trump is being hounded because he is an outsider and does not want to play according to their rules. When this motion comes before the U.S. Senate, it is my opinion that, unless there is a breaking in ranks in that body, which would be an outright betrayal of the American people, Donald Trump will be exonerated and remain in office. Nevertheless both the U.S. and Great Britain need to be in our prayers during these difficult times. And also Mr. Johnson and Mr. Trump, for do not forget that they hold their position by the will of God, they are the Lord’s anointed as long as they remain in office.
By the time that you, our readers, will read this short article it will be the year of our Lord 2020. Whatever this year will bring is anyone’s guess, for uncertainty prevails. But according to the calendar it is the birth of a new year, and just as Jesus told Nicodemus, that a man must be born again (John 3:3), the same in a sense is true also of a country or a government. Unless we are reborn of water and the Spirit we cannot see nor enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5). It is a Spiritual rebirth that will bring changes from within, the same is desperately needed in the Israel nations at large. May the Lord grant that this will be so. In closing I wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year and may the blessings of our Lord guide you ever in your journey towards His coming!
Editor’s Comments: Since this article was penned in late 2019, a whole lot more shaking has erupted in the Middle East, this time centered in Iran and Iraq, with America also playing a leading role. First the killing of Iran’s top General, Soleimani, via a missile attack at an Iraqi airport by the Americans, then the almost mock retaliation against two Iraqi military basis, and then the demonstrations by Iranians themselves against the leaders of the dictatorship imposed back in 1979 when the Shah of Iran was forced to flee. It didn’t do the Imam any good when Iran’s only female Olympic medallist, the taekwondo champion Kimia Alizadeh, describing herself as one of the millions of oppressed women in Iran, confirmed she has defected because she didn’t want to be part of “hypocrisy, lies, injustice and flattery”.
So, how will the Iran dictatorship react when the demonstrations grow in numbers and rapidity, particularly if western leaders throw support behind the demonstrators. It reminds me of the cat caught in the corner, with no way out, its only recourse to strike back. So, will the dictatorship strike out against its own people, in an effort to quell the opposition, or will they employ their vast military machine against her enemies, particularly the Americans. And by doing so, will it bring in nations on both sides, thus beginning World War 3.
The missile destruction of the Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 passengers, 57 of which were Canadians, was exacerbated by their early denial, only adds to Iran’s reputation as a rogue nation.
