A World of Confusion
“For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.” (Jer. 3:24-25)
I have been thinking the last few weeks about how confusing our world has become, not only in world events but also in our everyday lives. I was walking my dog in the field across the street and three young girls from the school yard came over to pat my dog. When they were leaving, I said, “thank you girls” and then thought, am I allowed to say that today? Am I allowed to call them girls anymore or should I use the word people or children or say nothing!!! They did not glare at me or anything, but it is so hard to know what our children are being taught today. This is what I mean about even the everyday things even being confusing today. What can we say, what can we do, what is allowed in today’s society? It is very confusing. This is not what God intended, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” (1Cor. 14:33) If we were living by God’s commandments and His Laws everything would be very clear but since we have abandoned them, we are covered in a web of confusion and uncertainty.
Our Israel lands, as well as most of the world, are floundering under confusion resulting in anger, riots, murders, depression, suicides, wars, etc., etc.) Here is part of an article from the website – www.zerohedge.com
“The global backdrop remains of slowing growth, increased financial vulnerability in places, and yet an institutional architecture that is either in denial or has no firm idea of what policy mix to use to stop this happening. And, crucially, global populations that are not content to just sit and wait for something better to turn up eventually. Indeed, consider that we now have mass public unrest (on and off) in: France, Spain, and that 24% AfD vote in Germany, and Brexit in the UK; Algeria; Iraq: Lebanon; Egypt; Russia; Hong Kong; Venezuela; Chile; Ecuador; and Bolivia. Plus deepening polarisation in the US – and one could add the middle-class disruption of Extinction Rebellion in Australia, Canada, and others.”
My brother, a friend and I were talking with our friends in England. We were discussing how it is so interesting that at this particular time there is such confusion in what is happening with Brexit in England as well as the confusion escalating in the USA. And now after our recent election here in Canada much uncertainty and confusion in what is to happen next due to our minority government and the anger in our western provinces, even talk of a WEXIT as they are so upset. With all the demonstrations happening around the globe, it is obvious people are unhappy, but unfortunately most of them do not know the reason for this confusion. They do not know that they must fall on their knees before their Saviour God and repent, not only for their own sins, but as a whole nation for the sins of their country. If we do not let God into how lives and into the affairs of our nations how can he possibly help us. We are then on our own and that does not appear to be working very well, does it?
We live in a fallen world and unfortunately are affected by many things in this world that we cannot avoid. James 3:13-18 offers these wise words to us, “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”
The following is from the Book of Common Prayer, The Fourth Sunday After Easter. The Collect. “O ALMIGHTY God who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men: Grant unto thy people, that they may love the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost promise; that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed, where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” I bolded the words here as they apply to us today.
