Tug of War

If someone had written a book 20 years ago, describing the events taking place in the Houses of Parliament today, no one would have believed him! After all, are we not a democracy? Well, we were, but democracy seems to be fast slipping through our fingers!

In fact, a few weeks ago, a handful of “Remainers” pitched in the high street of a small Somerset town, informed me that “democracy is changing all the time” – this after I had pointed out to them that the British people had voted to leave the EU in a fair and democratic referendum. And there I was thinking that democracy was democracy!

Never has there been such fighting within this land! It is a political civil war. Both within parliament, and the country itself. Never have politicians openly tried so hard to usurp the will of the British people – who had been asked to vote on whether or not they wished to stay in the European Union. Thankfully, God has raised us up Boris Johnson as our new prime minister. His name ‘Boris’ means ‘fight’ or ‘fighter’, and ‘warrior’ – just as well, because he needs to be! At least he is a true Brexiteer and his cabinet ministers are likewise. But it won’t be easy for the fight is intensifying!

Our country is rent in two! And to hear the ranting and raving by those who are furious that we voted to leave, is to know what is meant in the Bible when it speaks of “wailing and gnashing of teeth”. How dare we spoil their Babylonish plans!
But we did vote to leave, fairly and squarely (and they can’t change that!), in a referendum that can only have been ‘arranged’ by the One Who sits in the Heavens! And the result too – though all our prayers counted – He heard them – was a miracle, when you consider all the doom and gloom threatened upon us. But we did – and before God that counts too – mightily! And why would Our Lord God have blessed His people with these two steps to freedom, only to then have the door slammed in our faces? No! He will not do that for He is mightily jealous for His people, and if He calls us out of Babylon then out we shall come. “Come out of her My People!”- there is no alternative.

When the Children of Israel were delivered from the bondage of Egypt, it was a long drawn out affair. If you look in the Book of Jasher (Chapter 79:54&55) you will read the following; “And Moses returned to the Lord and said, why host Thou ill treated Thy people? For since I came to speak to Pharaoh what thou didst send me for, he has exceedingly ill used the children of Israel. And the Lord said to Moses, Behold thou wilt see that with an out stretched hand and heavy plagues, Pharaoh will send the children of Israel from his land.” (v 57); “And as for the children of Israel the Egyptians embittered their lives with the heavy work which they imposed upon them.”

And in chapter 80:1 we read “And at the end of two years the Lord again sent Moses to Pharaoh to bring forth the children on Israel …”

Two years later! A long drawn out affair indeed!

Then a whole tirade of plagues and pestilence and wild weather (‘climate change’ back then – well I never!) was set upon the Egyptians one after the other – but interestingly, and as a warning to those ‘remainers’ in our own land, including those in parliament, we read also in Chapter 80:37-39; At that time died many of the people of Israel who had rebelled against the Lord and who would not hearken to Moses and Aaron, and believed not in them that God had sent them. And who had said, we will not go forth from Egypt lest we perish with hunger in a desolate wilderness, and who would not hearken to the voice of Moses. And the Lord plagued them in the 3 days of darkness, and the Israelites buried them in those days, without the Egyptians knowing of them or rejoicing over them…”

The tide has turned somewhat since we voted to leave the EU. At the time of the referendum the then President of America – Obama – was clearly against us leaving, for he announced that if we voted to do so, the UK would go to the back of the queue for new trade deals. President Trump is quite the opposite and has made it plain he supports us in our coming out.
Babylon is not just restricted to the EU – it is the whole ‘Global’ one world organization, which is propagating sin and destruction upon the whole world and sucking us all into its whirlpool of evil. Our coming out of the EU is a step toward our turning away from sin, and back to Almighty God. Those of us that see and feel all this evil and sin are like Lot sitting at the gates of Sodom.

St Paul speaks of the battle between the flesh and the Spirit; “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh, for the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would……Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife,sedition, heresies. Envying, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like….they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against which there is no law.’ (Galatians 5:18&19-23)

We see clearly that the works of the flesh are rampant everywhere – all around us – and as we try to tear ourselves from them the hatred and malice that is poured upon us is almost too hard to bear.

In coming forth from Egypt the children of Israel came into the total care of Almighty God. He led them through the wilderness 40 years – and it took all of that to get the wickedness of Egypt out of them. Later, when Joshua led them in the taking of Jericho, another Babylonish place of sin, one Israelite could not resist keeping a robe and other articles which he hid in the sand under his tent. He wanted to keep a piece of Babylon! God, of course, knew, and that Israelite and his family were put to death – the reward of sin is death!

We have to be a separate people in order to truly turn back to God – notwithstanding Babylon all around us and temptations and distractions abound. Out of the EU we may find ourselves in a wilderness situation, and then our sins will bear heavy upon us, especially when we realize who we are. It will be then, that like king Josiah and his priests, when they were trying to rebuild God’s Temple, and they stumbled upon the Law – they realized their sins! And the other Israel nations will follow suit. President Trump is attempting to untangle America’s links with China – that communist/Marxist state where it is illegal to own a Bible. I remember several years ago, the late Pastor Meyer of the Last Trumpet Ministries in Beaver Dam, WI (not BI), commenting on US links with China – sinister links that saw the Chinese flag flying on US ships and so forth. We have to realize that Communism and Marxism are the driving force behind the Babylonian World Order. It is the progenitor of today’s evils; sodomy, and every ‘ism’ that comes under the guise of ‘political correctness’. We have to turn away from it!

Turning back to God and really repenting will happen when we know who we really are and where our responsibilities lie – then we shall be heavy laden indeed – not only realizing but feeling deeply our sin. Only then will His people really and with all their hearts, repent. And this awareness can only come when the Lord opens the eyes of His people – and that time will come. And when it does, Our Lord Jesus will say, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”

So, let us have faith and trust in him, and look to the time when we shall be His once more!
