Soaring Above – A Little Piece of Wisdom
Editor’s Note: Troubles come in all sizes and very often in bunches. Each of us at some time in our journeys are burdened with what we think are insurmountable worries but we Christians have the greatest remedy of all because as Psalm 46:1 tells us, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”. I think this is why I admire the Reverend Doctor Ken Kemble so much. He knows what it means to overcome the vicissitudes of life. Presently, he is ministering to a growing new church in Michigan, with all its pressures of finances for operating and the task of attracting a congregation; yet, at the same time, he has had to visit his home state of Texas on a number of occasions to look after aging and ailing parents and prepare their move to Michigan – not an easy thing for a family with seven generation roots in that state – then the heartbreaking matter of two of his eight children who have strayed from the family and the faith, having been enticed away by the Mormon Church. Still, he soldiers on, his sermons are original (pastorkemble@rocketmail.com), he still publishes a periodic newsletter and periodically writes for this and probably other magazines. His service to God will also see him travelling to England soon to be a keynote speaker at the BIWF Annual Conference. Quite a load! Still, he took the time this month to express a piece of wisdom, too good not to pass along. He wrote:
Dear Friends:
There is great growth in troubles, Isaiah 40:31 told us, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isn’t this great advice! After a hard two weeks in Texas, my daughter and I were exhausted on the flight back home to Michigan. My daughter had a window seat and as she looked out on the world below us, she made this observation. “She said that everything looked so small”. I replied that even things that we know are huge and tower above us when we are standing next to them are barely even visible from up there. So, it is the same when we trust in the Lord.
The Word of God assures us that with Him, we will soar high above the cares of this world, and they will seem as nothing as we look at the big picture. We need only to TRUST HIM. “Ye have seen what I did . . . and how I bare you on eagles’ wings and brought you unto myself.” (Exodus 19:4)
We are also told in Deuteronomy 32:11-13, “As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead [His people Israel]…”
Friends, what comforting words are these! Haven’t we all been through enough in the past to know that He will help us through anything that we may face?
Gracious God in heaven, it is my heartfelt plea that you would help us all to trust You.
