Signs of Coming Judgement
There were signs of approaching judgement in ancient Israel and I believe many of those signs are with our Israel people of today. As with the people of the houses of Israel and Judah, the danger is from the north, and like ancient Israel, our people are not concerned with the mounting danger. They are only concerned with their day to day lives and are oblivious to what is coming.
“Then the Lord said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land. For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.” Jeremiah 1:14-15. That was what the Israelites in Judah faced at the time of Jeremiah. In our day, talks have broken down between Russia and the U.S.A., as both accuse the other of giving up on the arms treaty. Russia is now building more nuclear capable hypersonic missiles. Many of us in the Israel truth movement believe Russia will come forth to do battle in our generation. “And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.” Ezekiel 38:15-16. Of course, the Lord gave Ezekiel the vision in terms he could understand. He understood horses and primitive armies, but he could not understand modern technology. Some visions of the future are not meant to be seen. If seen and reported they could alter the course of history.
The sins of ancient Israel are similar to the sins we see in our modern Israel nations. “And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.” Jeremiah 32:35. They killed babies by burning them alive in their worship of Molech. In our day we have abortion, even killing babies in late term abortions. We are no better than the ancient Israelites. Christians are not able to stop abortion, but God can stop it. He put an end to the worship of Molech and he can stop the murder of babies in abortion. One day abortion will be remembered as an abomination of the past.
Sexual sins, especially adultery, were prevalent in ancient Israel and Judah. The prophet Jeremiah lamented, “Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.” Jeremiah 9:2. Adultery leads to divorce, and God hated divorce in ancient Israel caused by adultery. “And did not he make one? Yet, had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore, take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.” Malachi 2:15-16.
With the moral decadence of the men in ancient Israel, the women eventually took power. “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isaiah 3:12. However, the women were no more righteous than the men. “The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” Jeremiah 7:18. We have seen a rise in female power in our Israel nations, but it has not resulted in any return to God. We are no different than the ancient Israelites.
When the people of Israel and Judah continually rejected the righteous prophets and priests that tried to turn them to God, He eventually gave them up to their own delusions. Concerning Israel, called Ephraim, “Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.” Hosea 4:17. Concerning Judah, “Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.” Jeremiah 7:16. I believe God will give us up to our delusions, until it gets so bad that we will call on him for help. We know what happened to ancient Israel and Judah. War came upon them from the north and from the east. Today we see the rise in power of Russia and China, but our people are too blind to see what is coming.
The good news is that after the cataclysm of war is finished, the Lord will return to establish His Kingdom. “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:29-30. It is that great day that we look forward to with thanksgiving in our hearts. “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” Hebrews 10:37.
