Toward a New Beginning?

Freedom may never have looked dimmer in our Israel World than it is today, and as we Christians survey the landscape at the conclusion of this first quarter of the year of 2019, we can’t help but hope that this year will be different than all the other years we personally have experienced. It just seems they are getting worse and worse. But, still, will the year be different, or will we witness a further decline? Yet, what is this strange feeling coming over us? Is there a sense of frightening expectancy in the air; that perhaps the forces of evil are now marshalling together for a final battle against God Almighty, and as confident as we are to look forward to the certain victory of God, we know the path to the glorious end will be strewn with sorrow and hardship.

There is little doubt that the strides the evil ones have made in discrediting our Great God, the Lord Jesus Christ, over the past three decades have been nothing short of astonishing and today, they can say anything they want against Him without fear of backlash. They know that if they can destroy the very foundation of our faith, that the last hurdle for control of the western world will be overcome and the war against our faith won. And as sad as it might sound, the majority of our political, economic and theological leaders, who may talk about God and who may profess to believe in Jesus Christ, but, in the main, their actions prove otherwise. And, sad to say, our brethren invariably look up to these leaders and generally accept their words hook, line and sinker. Jeremiah couldn’t have said it clearer “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their means; and the people love to have it so …” (Chapter 5:31) Sad to say, most of these leaders are just masquerading and we as sheep are ignoring the wonderful words of the Lord, when He said, “… by their fruits ye shall know them…” Then to, we shut our eyes to the Apostle Paul’s wisdom, “How shall they hear without a preacher,” meaning, of course, someone who will proclaim the truth.

You know, during the years of the Second World War, Canada had a great Prime Minister named William Lyon MacKenzie King. At the time, he was referring to the Nazi evil, but his words could equally apply today, “The … [present] doctrine is the very antithesis of what one finds in the Christian gospel. If it prevails there will be an end to our Christian civilization……” King’s answer, of course, was for his troops to go forth in battle, but today, God’s main troops, the theologians, basically sit on the sidelines, too much attached to the trappings of their offices, and so, accept the role of promoting the false doctrine and the false identity of Israel, rather than teaching a doctrine they would uncover for themselves with a determined study. Is it any wonder why the prophet Ezekiel spoke, “Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks.” We have rapidly reached that point where there is a desperate famine of the Word in our nations.

Just look at the political apparatus in our Israel nations. Isn’t it ironic that at a time our economic prospects are on the rise, great divisions in our nations are threatening future prosperity? Take America for instance! There seems to be such a “get Trump” attitude that the opposition party is diverting its energies to this instead of seriously looking at such things as the border invasion or keeping the prosperity going. In Britain, rather than exiting the EU as the Brexit vote demanded, divisions are putting their own interests ahead of God’s Command, “Come out of her, my people”. In the vacuum, the minds of Israelites everywhere are being filled with forebodings of a gloomy future, perhaps not today but soon. Sad too, immorality abounds as all the former walls of propriety have been scaled and torn down. Wars with our largest enemies are potentially shaping up and the recent suggestion that North Korea is rebuilding its missile launch capability is adding a further danger. And two of the most significant symptoms of the times in which we live is a constant fear of terrorist activities and growing carnages brought about through illegal immigration.

These things do not have to be! God told us, “If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them, I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: neither shall the sword go through your land. And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.” Think about it, we would have freedom from war, and disease and want. Fear would no longer be our master. Yet, because of our obstinacy and blindness, we have bound ourselves so tightly we can no longer break the bonds by ourselves. We need Jesus to return to save us.

We have to ask ourselves as we continue through this year, “Is this the year we will throw off the yolk of bondage,” as prophesied by the prophet Ezekiel? Is this the year when we shall reclaim the Dominion? Is this the year Mystery Babylon will begin its collapse? And is this the year when either Elijah himself or the spirit and power of Elijah will make an appearance? Whatever happens, all signs point to 2019 as being a year of great importance on God’s calendar and we must remain truly vigilant. We must remember God’s promise, “O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.”
