Holiness Unto The Lord
“In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE Lord; and the pots in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts . . .” Zechariah 14:20-21
This passage speaks of the great and glorious Day of the LORD, and of the remnant that He has reserved for Himself.
What a glorious scene is here presented! What a glorious thought, sure to thrill the soul of every believer who would thoughtfully consider it.
In Exodus 28:36 and 39:30 we read that the holy crown of pure gold, which was worn by the high priest as he performed his duties before the Lord, had the inscription “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” upon it. It was the only article ordained by God to bear that inscription.
But in that glorious day shall the most common of all things be likewise sacred and hallowed to God’s glory. Those things that are now considered simply secular and ordinary — from the trappings of the horse’s gear to the common pot in the kitchen — shall bear the same inscription as the high priest’s crown. Holiness will extend even to the minutest concerns of domestic life. All things shall be consecrated to Jehovah God. O glorious day!
In reading this passage, I was taken with an overwhelming desire to have that in my life right now! And the burning question rose up in my spirit — “Why not now?!”
Are we not now kings and priests unto our God? (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6) Imagine the revival that would sweep the people of God if we were to set our hearts and minds to give everything in our lives over to God, for the purpose of giving Him glory! What would it mean to your life and your walk with God if you were to separate everything in your life – your home, your family, that phone, tablet or other mobile device in your hand, that television remote – unto Almighty God for the sole purpose of giving Him glory and honour?
The very idea thrills my soul, and should thrill yours as well!
Let us determine in our hearts this very day that, as regards our lives and our homes, we will not wait for that bright and glorious day to set things so in order, but will even now begin to separate ourselves and everything that is ours to Almighty God, so that in everything that we think, everything that we say and everything that we do, we shall be — HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD!
Amen! God help us so to do!
