The Rise of Humanism
Humanism is now sweeping through the modern world. Europe and the British Isles have been poisoned by it. Canada has succumbed to it. The battle is still raging in the United States to keep the nation from falling completely into it. It disguises itself as the next phase in human development, when human beings would abandon all worship of God. It is not new. It merely puts human beings in the place of God and is the resurgence of an old religion.
The year 2017 marked 500 years since Martin Luther’s declaration against the Roman Catholic Church. At that time God was already preparing many others for their part in the Reformation. The false religion that was in the Roman Catholic Church was a form of humanism. They glorified human beings. They placed a man who was not Jesus Christ at the head of their church and tried to say he had God-like powers over the souls of men. They kept the Bible away from the people and declared that only their priests could interpret the word of God. They prayed to human beings other than Jesus Christ and glorified Mary. Their doctrine was saturated with the glorification of human beings other than Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke to the false doctrine of glorifying Mary. “And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Luke 11:27-28. Jesus was pointing people away from the glorification of Mary and pointing them to the word of God. That was the message of the Reformation.
The Reformation eventually put the Bible into the hands of millions of people throughout the world. The work is still going on today. It was started by people of the lost tribes of Israel, most of whom were living in northwestern Europe and the British Isles, but the spreading of the word of God goes on in our generation by many people in many nations. However, the tragedy is that humanism has once again taken over Europe, in a different form. It is not in the form of the Roman Catholic Church, but in the form of atheism, agnosticism and the doctrine of evolution. It is the glorification of human beings apart from God. We need another Reformation in a different form to combat this form of humanism. The battle cry for a second Reformation has gone out from many Bible believing preachers and teachers. It has to start in the churches. It has to start with the lost tribes of Israel, who are the Anglo-Saxon and kindred people. To begin with, let us look at the origin of the evil doctrine of humanism.
“And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:2-5. I believe it was Satan speaking through the serpent. He told Eve that they should disobey God. He told her that God was a liar. He told her that they could be elevated to the level of gods. Modern humanism says we should disregard the Bible with respect to morality, that the Bible is a book of myths, that human beings are supreme and that there is no need for God. In other words, modern humanism calls for the rejection of the Bible. It is the opposite of the Reformation.
We Christians need to get the Bible into our minds and hearts. The best way to do this is to wake up to our identity as the lost tribes of Israel. Then we realize that the Bible is about us, and we start to identify with the Israel of the Bible. The Bible becomes our book and we begin to understand parts of it that were closed to us, such as prophecies and parables about the Kingdom of God. It becomes an open book to us rather than a partially closed book.
