Peace from God
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isa. 26:3)
It happens many times that the article I think I am going to write is not what I eventually do write. This has happened again this time. At the time of this article Hurricane Harvey has struck Texas and there is much devastation and it is not over yet, so there will be much more to come. This has happened just after the Solar Eclipse that happened on August 21st. Is this significant? I think so. I think God is giving us a sign that things are about to get very bad. It appears that there are also more signs to come as well, so I believe this is definitely the time to make your peace with God. He is the only One who can give you peace that passes understanding in these turbulent times.
I was talking with my friends from England yesterday and we were discussing this. It is impossible to try and figure out all that is happening in the world today. We understand certain things but don’t always understand where they are leading and at times this can make us very weary. Another friend of mine here in Vancouver says that God gives us the outline of things to come but not the details. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways so we have to let Him take care of us. After all, for the most part we live in the world so it has a great pull and influence on us. If our thoughts are always from a worldly point of view and from what we think we know, we will often be disappointed. Decisions that are made in the world are made by man, so are always shifting and uncertain. God of course can be involved in these decisions but not always.
If we keep our minds and our hearts focused on our God and His promises and if we live our lives daily trying to keep His Commandments, we will experience the peace that only God can give. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7) The world is not a comfortable place for us. It is filled with violence, corruption, and every wicked thought imaginable just as in Noah’s time. This is the physical world we live in but it does not have to be where our hearts and thoughts are. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we are in a spiritual battle and because of this we must put on the full armour of God to keep us safe from this wicked and evil world. The Lord did not tell us to keep our eyes on the world, He told us to look up as this is where our redemption comes from. As things get worse keep your eyes on the Heavens as I believe God is showing us many signs that our redemption is coming very soon. The world is in a chaotic state and is full of fear and anger because those that look to the world to solve their problems do not know that their salvation is in Jesus Christ and He says to look up. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)
In these troubling times, we must WATCH and PRAY. We are to be watchmen but that does not mean we have to be in a state of angst at all that is happening. We may not know the details of how God is going to deal with this world but we do know the outcome and that is a blessing. It is interesting that September 21, 2017 is the International Day of Peace. Here is the information from website un.org/en/events/peaceday. “Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”
Unfortunately this is a worldly peace and does not offer us any hope. The only hope we have is from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. LOOK UP!
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
