It’s Time to Get Serious
“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance.” (1Peter 1:13-14)
It is time to get serious. Everything I am seeing and hearing is pointing to the return of Christ very soon. Are we ready for that day? Will we be like the five wise virgins that took oil with their lamps when they went to meet the bridegroom or will we be like the five foolish virgins that only took their lamps without any oil. They therefore were not ready when the bridegroom came, as they had to go buy oil and missed His appearing and “the door was shut”. “Watch ye therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” (Matt. 25:1-13) Have we made ourselves ready for the bridegroom? Are our hearts filled with the Holy Spirit? When we hear His call will we still be preparing our hearts or are we ready?
When I originally wrote this article in 2012 it seemed as if things were becoming about as bad as they could ever be, but here we are now four years later and the world seems completely foreign to us. I wrote in an earlier article that everything seems to be upside down and this is becoming more and more evident every day. It has become a foreign place to us who know and love Jesus Christ. Today instead of worshipping God and trying to obey His commandments the world appears indifferent to God and even churches are denying Christ and covering up His Ten Commandments. It is like they are slapping God in the face and telling Him they want no part of anything He has to say. How foolish they are but this is the world we live in today. These people will come to God with empty lamps and will not be ready when the door is shut.
There is such apathy in the world today and although people seem to want to have hope they don’t seem to want to believe in anything that relates to a God that they can’t see. They have been so manipulated and have become so apathetic to individual thinking that they just go along with the worldly view. I think this is one of the reasons I believe the time is short. We are under such control now and can be monitored in so many different ways that real freedom is gone. Freedom can only come from the beliefs that we as Christians hold. When those beliefs are gone the foundations crumble and we lose our freedom. In a garden when the plants are fed with nutrients and watered they thrive but when water and nutrients in the soil are gone they wither and die. Is that not what is happening to the world today? The Creator has been abandoned and the Water of Life and the Truth that He gave us to survive has been rejected so we are dying. Death and destruction are everywhere and our people have become so apathetic that they don’t seem to care.
We must be serious in what we believe today and live our lives as God would want us to live them. We alone cannot change the world but we do not have to live as the world wants us to. We can continually fill our lamps with His Word and live our lives in the knowledge and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of our lives and what we build our lives on. We are looking ahead to the new Kingdom on Earth with Jesus ruling and reigning. What a glorious time that will be and we must make sure we are ready to meet Him. We must be serious in continuing to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord. He is our strength and He will help us. We must be sure that our lamps are filled.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat; Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matt. 7:13-14) Many are able to find the wide gate and broad way that leads to destruction but few are able to find the strait gate and narrow way that leads to life. It is time to get serious about this choice we have because time is short and the door will be shut.
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” (Luke 21:36)
