Come Out of Her, My People
Later this year, on June 23rd, the British people will have one last opportunity to withdraw from the European Union, an opportunity to “Come out of her, my people”.
Perhaps before getting into this subject more deeply, let me quote another Bible verse, Micah 4:10, God’s words to us for the last days, “Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail [True Israel]: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, [Jesus said field is the world – Matt. 13:38] and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the Lord shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies”.
The Lord is going to extradite us from the hands of our enemies and our bondage, he told us this in Ezekiel 34:27, “….. and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them”.
So, we know it is going to happen, but we don’t know “When”!
We do know that Mystery Babylon has three components, Political, Economic and Ecclesiastical. The Bible tells us that all three will meet their end, in fact Revelation 18:10 makes it crystal clear, “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour is thy judgment come”. Most Bible scholars have arrived at this prophetic hour as representing 15 years, so the question is, “Has it started and if so, are we at the beginning, in the midst, at the end, or, at a point still in the future.
One thing is certain! We are close to that point where Israelites by the millions around the world will wake up and realize they are caught in this Babylonian vice and all those minions of Mystery Babylon will be unmasked for what they are and for what they have done to our once dominant nations. They will feel the sting of James 5:1-6 and Revelation 18:21-23.
Perhaps the referendum in the United Kingdom on June 23rd will be the beginning of woes for those whom Revelation 18:23 describes, “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee”. But make no mistake about it, the forces calling for remaining in the EU are powerful indeed. Right now it is 50/50 at best and it will take great people power to withstand the strategy of the money powers who want to keep the status quo and will use the media and scare-mongering as their two greatest weapons. On the other hand, the “want out forces” will see Prime Minister Cameron’s negotiations as bandage therapy at most.
Certainly, the “out” side will point to their being taken in by the former Prime Minister Edward Heath when he led the charge in 1972 for Britain to join “The European Community”, as it was then known. But it was for trade purposes and the argument to take advantage of the opportunity was enticing. And in all fairness, it was the people who willingly endorsed membership by a 66% vote when Prime Minister Harold Wilson called for a referendum in 1973. Still, again, it was an agreement based on trade, not political dimensions.
It goes without saying that Almighty God warned True Israel not to enter into agreement with non-Israelite nations and the people’s 1973 approval was a direct slap against God’s Word. There are many examples in the Holy Scriptures which demonstrate the folly of disobedience to His Words. And so, the sop of a well orchestrated 1973 referendum, designed for a favourable vote for leaders seeking a new identity for their nation, set in place a greater arrogance for those who had no compunction in selling out Britain’s sovereignty.
This explains why the people had no say in 1987 when the Single European Act was signed. This Act created an internal market; or an area without frontiers in which the free movement of goods and persons, services and capital was ensured. Britain was beginning to feel the disastrous effects of entering agreements with heathen nations.
Before the next step, it was important to those advocating integration with Europe to rid the nation of one of history’s great British leaders, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Once accomplished, the road was open for the “coup de grace” as “The Maastricht Treaty” was signed. One website states that the heart of this agreement was to create a single European currency so that Europe as an entity had a currency to challenge the international supremacy of the dollar. At least, Britain, lead by Tory Prime Minister John Major, pushed for and got an “opt out” clause for Britain. This meant that they were part of the European Community and wanted to be a part of it, but not to participate in a single currency, therefore, maintaining the pound. There were lesser agreements as well, as in 1993 the European Union was born and in 2002 the EURO was launched.
The EU has not been the great success initially promoted and the sorry change in the nation demonstrates this. Still, Britain is not in unfamiliar territory. The great advantage it has of being True Israel is that at some point God Almighty will instill leadership to rescue the nation from the abyss. We could think back to World War 2 when the mighty duo of Winston Churchill and King George VI greatly inspired all our people. Yet, our present circumstances greatly resemble another era when our nation was in mortal danger. It was 1558 AD and Elizabeth I ascended the throne. “A member of the Court summed up the condition of the then country by saying, “The Queen poor, the realm exhausted, the nobility poor and decayed. Want of good captains and soldiers. The people out of order. Justice not executed. All things dear. Excess in meat, drink and apparel. Divisions among ourselves. Wars with France and Scotland. The French King bestriding the realm, having one foot in Calais and the other in Scotland. Steadfast enmity but no steadfast friendship abroad.”
Now, think about this! When a nation has courageous leadership, all the scare tactics in the world will not overcome it. As a nation belonging to God, we must “come out from Mystery Babylon”. Remember Gideon. The Israelites again turned away from God after forty years of peace brought by Deborah‘s victory over Canaan and he was selected by God to arrest it. With just 300 men, he forced the Midianite army to flee, resulting in a further 40 years [until he died] of peace and reverence to God.
Elizabeth I [Elizabeth meaning “God’s Oath], was not only courageous but she surrounded herself with the strongest of advisors and parliamentarians. She injected great energy and determination into the nation’s problems and after a relatively few years into her reign, England was at peace and returned to a state of prosperity. Her policies engineered a great revival in trade, agriculture and manufacturing. Exploration was encouraged and many overseas colonies were claimed for England. It was a golden period in the nation’s growth. And the highlight of her reign was the emergence of Britain from under the shadow of the great European powers.
Well, we need another golden period for our nation. But we are at a crossroads. Do we want to remain with the EU at an astronomical expense and further decline of our sovereignty, while giving away our ability to make our own laws or changing the make-up of our population? And are we content to be nothing more than a province of an European Union.
June 23rd will tell!
